After chatting with @she_is_423 about her glasses, I wanted to check out the designer in Tokyo myself. Found some good candidates for my next pair, and they even have a @Kojima_Hideo collab.

@miririnmiri A melon parfait with a creme brulee topping at Royal Host (how did the glass not break from the torch?) gives me a yoshoku superiority complex.

Japanese food is amazing and I prefer to to British food and miss it, but in Japan I undeniably met many people (in my work and personal life) with a huge superiority complex about it, for example lol

You can have objectively one of the greatest cuisines in the world but still also have a superiority complex about it (Italian food is my favourite and I don't know if they do/don't have a superiority complex about it) (but it's not mutually exclusive!)

@NormalMode Their buffet is pretty great. I like Ikinari Steak better for just steak, but if I want meat and a wide range of stuff, I’ll get a small steak at Bronco Billy and fill up on the buffet. ✨

@MitchATreadwell They sure do. I've also seen it in izakaya/yakitori restaurants in the U.S. in cities with Japanese communities.

@NormalMode Like even in the Yatagarasu books I'm reading now, which pull heavily from Heian Japan (and other historical periods), the names characters are called and when is a big part of the story. People get new names a lot. The omniscient narrator switches names a lot. Sorry for essay!

@miririnmiri Surely not, and that's comforting to know. I still manage to impress waitstaff in more rural parts of Japan when I use the camera translation feature on their menus.
