The North Miami Police Department oversaw the destruction of 146 firearms tied to closed cases. Officers transported the items to a foundry where they were safely melted down, ensuring these weapons are permanently removed from circulation and never make it back onto our streets.

*Update* 09/02/2025 at 2100 hours-NE 141 ST West of Biscayne Boulevard has been reopened.

09/02/2025 at 1815 hours-The North Miami Police Department is conducting an investigation on the west side of Biscayne Boulevard and NE 137 ST. NE 141 ST is currently blocked, just west of Biscayne Boulevard. Please use NE 135 ST or NE 146 ST as an alternative route.

We are currently conducting an active investigation in the area of N.E. 4th Avenue and N.E. 137th Street.While there is no threat to the public, residents may notice a significant police presence in the area as officers work to conclude the investigation. Updates will be shared.

Today, the North Miami Police Department came together in solemn remembrance to honor the lives and legacies of our three fallen heroes: Sergeant Carl W. Mertes, Sergeant Steven E. Bauer, and Sergeant Lynette Hodge. 💙💙💙
