🔍Did you know Northbrook was once called Shermerville? In 1923, residents renamed the Village after a community contest—“Northbrook” won, inspired by the river running through town. Population at the time was around 500 people. Thanks to the Northbrook History Museum for photos!

On March 18, 1924, Northbrook formalized its Fire Department with Resolution 197. Building on a volunteer force formed in 1901, the Village also purchased a 450 gallon-per-minute pumper for $4,550, mounted on a locally built Reiland & Bree truck chassis. #NBKThrowbackThursday
