José Mourinho, asked about Sporting's Champions League campaign and their coach Rui Borges:
"I'm happy for Rui Borges. He lost the first leg at Bodo 3-0 and he was massacred. He shouldn't have lost that game, sure, but even I have also lost there, and by worse numbers. However, if you ask me if I want Sporting to win the Champions League, I say no. The last one to win the Champions League with a Portuguese team was me [laughs]."

Zanetti: "By May 2010, we were in a position to win everything. In just three weeks, we could either celebrate the Treble or end up with nothing. Every match felt like a final. Mourinho knew the pressures we were under, and prepared us for that month in the best possible way. In every press conference, he was convinced we were going to win everything. The crazy thing is, he said that three months before the campaign ended, not three weeks. His confidence gave us wings."

José Mourinho's post match statements😳
"About the red card… the guy from Porto's bench called me a traitor 50 times. I'd like an explanation: I am a trator how? How? I was at Porto, and I gave Porto my soul. I went to Chelsea, and I gave Chelsea my soul. I went to Real Madrid, and I gave Real Madrid my soul. Inter, Fenerbahce, I was all around the world, and I gave my soul, my life, 24 hours a day, everyday. I think this is called professionalism. One thing, is the insults of the Porto fans. The same fans that, a few years ago, I couldn't even go to their city because they would kneel to my feet. I have no problem with their insults. But a colleague of mine calling me a traitor… why am I a traitor? Because I give everything to Benfica? Maybe tomorrow I leave Benfica and I go to Estrela Amadora, or União Leiria, or Moreirense, I will give as much as I always give. How am I a traitor? I didn’t like it."

Mesut Özil on Mourinho: "In one of the matches, he angrily said to me:
"Do you think two nice passes are enough? Do you think 50% of your level is enough for me?"
I took off my shirt and threw it! He then said to me:
"You are a coward, you don't want to fight more to win. You may look good as a player, but as a person, you are a coward!"
At that moment, I hated Mourinho, but in reality, I loved him. It was a lesson I will never forget.
The most distinctive thing about Mourinho is that he doesn't care about names; what matters most to him is the player's desire to win and their effort!
Even Ronaldo wasn't spared from his criticism for slacking off at times.
I remember one of our historic La Liga matches when Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Sevilla, and we won that match 6-0. We all thought we would receive praise after the match, but we were surprised when he pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket with notes about when and where each player lost the ball. Then he said:
"Even the hat-trick scorer was slacking," referring to Ronaldo!
He doesn't care if you are at the level of Maradona or Zidane as a player. What matters to him is that you are a good person and a brave man.
He truly is the best coach I've ever had."

Alright, I'll explain it to you.
We like certain footballers or cosches because of their actions, but it doesn't mean we like ALL of their actions. Even they, themselves, end up doing and saying things that are contradictory over time.
If we agree with everything they do no matter what just because they did it, our opinion stops mattering. We are just sheep following a random person we've never met, and we can't even explain why we like them. We've lost the ability to reason.
If you like Ronaldo, it doesn't mean you have to agree 100% with everything Ronaldo says or does.
I don't agree with Mourinho's stance last Tuesday, I won't lie and say I do.
1) He acted immediately without understanding really what happened, which is not usual for him.
"Eusebio is a Benfica legend, so there is no racism in Benfica." (This doesn't justify anything because clubs arent racist, only people are - and we all saw all the videos later of SOME people)
2) He was political about it and blindly sided with his player, without understanding that a greater issue than football was at stake. We all know what he would have said if he was the Real Madrid manager, but for me this isn't an issue in which your "club" matters, it's something bigger.
"If this happens always with Vinicius, it is weird"
3) He tried to shift the blame, without even understanding the full scope of the situation. Mourinho didn't even have all of the information, yet he chose to point out Vinicius celebration, as if that was relevant for this issue (it's not).
That's where I think he was wrong. Mostly, he was reactionary and unprepared when talking to the press, which is a very non-Mourinho thing to do.
But Mourinho has admitted to be wrong many times before. You think he is proud of that time he put a finger in Vilanova's eye? He probably disagrees with his own past action, he did it in the heat of the moment.
You will see in the future, at some point, Mourinho will talk about this, and will probably say that he reacted too soon or that he chose the wrong words. And then maybe you will be the one in disagreement with him, or you will switch your opinion as well and follow what he says regardless, like blind sheep.
If we don't think for ourselves, our opinions stop mattering.
