The S&P 500 is market-cap weighted. A handful of mega-cap AI/tech leaders (NVDA, MSFT, etc.) dominate its performance through massive earnings growth and capex on data centers/chips. They lift the whole index near highs even while many smaller tech stocks sit in bear markets. Narrow leadership, not broad strength. Equal-weighted or small-cap tech indices show the real breadth story.
