@DrNeilStone So glad to see this post. I was never in an iron lung, but I got polio at 5 years old and went through years of therapy. I wasn't fully discharged by the crippled children's hospital until I was 16. I didn't have the benefit of Salk or Sabine. Too many anti-vax idiots here.

@Kristinartz Not necessarily. It depends on whether to older person looks uncomfortable, I think. I'm in my 80s and still able to stand while riding the bus. I feel uncomfortable when someone offers their seat. I'm not comfortable taking their seat nor am I comfortable spurning their offer.
