@VtolairMail I don't think it looks good, on faces at least. But I just... don't think it looks good. I don't need my opinion on that to be objectively correct. Nothing about this seems particularly earthshattering or worth worrying about.
English

@VtolairMail Maybe, but what precedent is that exactly? Because it clearly can't be a 'default' thing. (and if it is, the assets will be made specifically for it) And it's not an AI thing because no one has problems with texture upscaling. (which yes does change the art style substantially)
English

@On_TheBounce This is mostly a recent opinion at large, though. HD model replacements were big back in the days of Gamebanana. And really only fell out of style when those games became seen as 'classics' and not just 'old'
English

@NotFuji_ Giant tits modelled by human hands through sheer force of will; Not rendered by the slop trough.
English

@On_TheBounce And at the same time, there are also a huge number of people who will refuse to play old games without graphics mods in general.

@mootsheep I don't see that working very well due to aforementioned heat capacity issues, the lens body is just going to absorb all the heat, but if you have $30 to blow on a soldering iron it couldn't hurt to try.
English

@NotFuji_ To be clear, im not trying to melt solder, the point is to heat the screw so it expands and loosens up
English

@Thaviel @mootsheep I have a TS-101 which is by all accounts a fancier Pinecil, and while it's fine for regular soldering, it definitely doesn't have the output to deal with large components. I can't even make solder traces with it because too large of solder globs will overpower it.
English

@NotFuji_ @mootsheep My cheap bench iron didn't hit temp so I got a portable one and it's 10 times faster
English

@mootsheep I’ve only been able to get these out with a dremel.
Also, I’d avoid using a portable soldering iron on that regardless, they don’t put out enough heat to reliably melt solder on big pieces of metal, i.e. a lens. Cheap bench iron is probably better.

@NotFuji_ Agreed, but allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment:
The staleness is the criticism is partially a reflection of the staleness of the AAA industry.
Levelling the criticism "I don't like 'A'", only to be presented with more 'A' will not lead to fresh angles.
English

@Sooshi_SFW After the colors are in, though, the whole thing gets merged together into one layer and painted over, though.
So ymmv
