Liverpool FC Supporters Board
On Saturday, supporters sent a clear warning to LFC about how they felt over multi-year ticket price increases. We know that the club has seen it, we hope that they are listening. Our message on where things stand now 👇

In the season FSG acquired Liverpool, (2010/11) matchday revenue was £40.9m. Last season it was £115.6m, an increase of 183%. Matchday revenue is average attendance x number of matches x average price. Fans have to pay VAT of 20% on top of the revenue earned by the Club too. Taking this into account, the price paid by a fan have increased from £42.44 to £82.11, which is 93.5% during the time that CPI has increased by 49.6%. Part of this will be due to an increase in the proportion of tickets sold to corporate/hospitality/member fans, but even so, is there justification in the increases in ticket prices to STH? Liverpool's success in attracting fans from all over the world is partly due to the vibrancy, the passion and the legend of the Kop (similar to the Stretford End, Kippax, Gallowgate, Clock End etc at other clubs historically) and current owners FSG have benefited from that. They are standing on the shoulders of giants, but they seem to see those fans as a historical inconvenience and now want those fans to either pay up or move on. @spiritofshankly @IanByrneMP @JamesPearceLFC

@WilcoFtbl @ClassLFC 2 of the reasons for the small/non-increases are because we made a stand in 2016; and because no one could set foot in a ground for a year so there was no one to charge. Swerve the ‘holier than thou’ attitude.

@ClassLFC Absolutely not brother, I’m just giving you context. You have the privilege to watch £1b of players on a pitch weekly, 3% increase after a while of none, isn’t that bad. Inflation’s a part of life. Have a read here too, let me know your thoughts?

Every single one of the fans that held up that little paper regarding the ticket prices are utterly pathetic. The real world includes things getting more expensive, which includes salaries, nutrition, technology etc. that’s part of Liverpool’s costs. Grow up, it’s just 3%.

Why do @lfc keep saying “The club also stressed that current match ticket prices on the Kop remain unchanged from when FSG took ownership over 15 years ago, despite a 45 per cent cumulative inflation over that time” When they blatantly have? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dear John… It’s not us. It’s you. 🖊️ Supporters, sign our open letter to John Henry and ask that he listens and thinks again about the club’s decision to increase ticket prices over multiple seasons. lfcsb.co.uk/dearjohn

It’s 3 years of price rises locked in - no other club is doing that but they soon will… A potential 13% rise. No discussion, engagement, accountability - just an end to debate until 2029. And once people are used to them going up every year what do we think happens then? 👀
Wozza@Woztista_uk

The more we get behind this the more they have to listen, heard so many people say “I’m alright with a few quid more” that’s not the point, it’s years to come when you’re paying £100 a game you’ll have wished you stood up and tried to make a difference!

Plenty has already been normalised: - paying an annual fee for the chance to enter a lottery for a ticket. - 18% of the ground being corporate - Never explaining why a promised young adults section in the Anfield Road didn’t happen. ⬇️

Having been in these meetings, the patronising replies and disingenuous arguments are an absolute piss take. So are the attempts to dress this up as reasonable discussion and negotiation. The Supporters’ Board was formed in the aftermath of @John_W_Henry trying to drag Liverpool into the European Super League (five years ago today). Something no one wanted and no one asked for. Other supporter groups look at the SB as a gold standard. The reality has been far from it. Simply ending scrutiny and accountability by declaring “three years, end of” is a joke. It calls into question the point of the whole thing. The PR since has more spin than the wheels on Ian Ayre’s Harley. We were previously told concessions could be ring-fenced. So presenting that now as a win for supporters, when it was the club who moved away from it in the first place, is bollocks. So are the endless lines about the “need” to do this. There is no need. It’s £1.2m. What it is, is the start of something. A slippery slope towards annual increases and normalising rises. And what happens after three years? They won’t say. But we all know. They keep going up. This is on Boston. And it’s about billionaires being out of touch. They don’t get what they’ve got. And they don’t get what they risk losing. Passionate, loyal, generational match-going support. The culture. The Kop. The habit. The love. It isn’t a product. So the only move left is to protest. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, then this is the road we’re on now. Good luck to the kids wanting to do what we always did. But if you care, now is the time to stand up and back it and make it work. Support Not A Pound In The Ground. Support the next steps. Get your mates on board. The people who have given up so much of their time for the greater good can’t do it on their own. If you don’t, if you can’t be arsed, or if you want to spend your time opposing affordability, then as Ian Ayre once said: Be careful what you wish for…
Liverpool FC Supporters Board@_lfcsb

We want to share with supporters, in the spirit of the transparency the club wishes to champion, our letter to them and their reply. We strongly disagree with the portrayal of our discussions and the characterisation of this as ‘some supporters’. We will follow up on next steps
