I’m convinced the use of hag is homophobic not just because it sounds like the f word but also because it deliberately feminises a queer man in a textbook homophobic way.

The problem with making edgy jokes that punch down on vulnerable groups, is no matter how you do it, no matter your intent, you’re empowering bigotry. Dave Chappelle’s jokes weren’t weaponized. They were accurately interpreted as being defamatory of trans people.
