@_birdsofwar The portal evals were very very bad. Taylor, Faulkner, Johnstone brother, Jensen… none of which really contributed anything. Rosters are too small to toss away spots like this.

Vanderbilt Baseball was built on stud pitching. Until we get back to 2-3 dudes every weekend that teams fear, we will get eliminated in regionals or worse.
From 2022-2026, there have been no dudes that teams know they can’t hit. It’s time to find 2-3 of those guys again.

Bingo. The exit strategy must be discussed. He retires on his own terms after 2027 or 2028. The current problem is there is no clear successor. Bakich has flopped this year at Clemson. Espo isn’t proven enough. Tough call.
