Amid #Eclipse2024 mania, I can't help but recall the eclipse in the Classics Illustrated edition of Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." Synopsis: The (apparently) time-traveling 19th century Connecticut Yankee is about to be burned at the stake when he recalls and "predicts" the solar eclipse that occurred on that date. His prediction saves him and he becomes King Arthur's right hand man bringing 19th century technology to the Dark Age Britain... until he wakes up. Note the agape peasants in the second image.
