@arcticawe Well redirects via Google.cn doesn’t happen but eSIM yeah, tho tbf it makes sense my model is dualsim no eSIM

@Not_Prasar It also doesn’t allow foreign eSIMs while in China. Not to mention the unencrypted redirects via google.cn. Never use a Chinese market iPhone.

As expected, Google is making sideloading harder on Android… but it is NOT going anywhere Here's the new way in simple steps: • Turn ON Developer Mode in settings • Confirm no one is forcing you • Restart your phone and unlock again • Wait 24 hours, then verify with fingerprint / face / PIN • Now you can install apps (7 days or always) More steps, but you still have the choice

If you think that this isn’t that serious, that’s okay. Your usecase isn’t like mine. But installing apks is literal crucial part when using Android phone so to me this is really bad and it’s completely valid to be upset about it

@catgirlprostate The fact that this toggle and restriction even exists and my expirence with previous restrictions that Google has made tells me that this is not the end and it will get worse
I just know Google wants Android to be more iOS like so they could have more control with Google play

@Not_Prasar Yeah you have to jump through the enormous hurdle of waiting 24 hours a single time on the next new phone you buy
It's not like it's for every single apk you install, it's one time to enable the toggle

A LOT of techy people are severely underestimating the amount of people being scammed that this change will save, and are acting like having to wait 24 hours is literally Orwellian levels of control

There’s absolutely demand for that, many discord servers that focus on old mobile games hate these updates because it makes expirencing those games nearly impossible now

@catgirlprostate This also really hurts as someone who lives in not really greatest place in the world where half of the apps aren’t on play store anymore because of the sanctions so I’m forced to install apks of them (ie bank apps)

@Not_Prasar @gabistoler @channelramblr @P4mui Yeah but ADB sideload and .apk sideload are different options. ADB will not have the 24 hour timer afaik so the update shouldn't change how long it takes (a very short time)

@Not_Prasar no 32bit apps is a hardware limitation if we're taking about modern smartphones
unlike modern x86-64/amd64, modern arm64/aarch64 does not support running 32bit apps on 64bit SoC/CPU
