@creepydotorg Good for her for getting paid via settlement. But she should have known better than to blur the lines between subordination and "friendship".

Mary Kay Letourneau was 34 years old when she sexually abused her 12-year-old student, Vili Fualaau.
She became pregnant, pleaded guilty to child rape, and was sent to jail. After her release, a court ordered her to stay away from him.
She ignored it.
Police later found Letourneau with Fualaau in a car, and she was sent back to prison. While behind bars, she gave birth to their second daughter.
Letourneau was released in 2004 after serving more than seven years. Less than a year later, she married Fualaau.
They stayed married for more than a decade before divorcing in 2019. She died of cancer one year later.

Todd and Barbara Kendhammer had just celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Days later, Todd called 911 from a rural Wisconsin road claiming a pipe had flown off a passing truck and ki*led his wife through the windshield.
There was no truck. There was no pipe. According to prosecutors, there was only Todd.
On September 16, 2016, just after 8am, Kendhammer called 911 from County Road M outside La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Barbara, 46, was rushed to hospital and died the following day.
An autopsy found she died of blunt-force injuries to the head and neck, with three lacerations on the back of her head.
The medical examiner said those wounds were not consistent with the type of injury expected from a pipe of the size and weight Kendhammer described.
Lab results showed Todd's DNA was under Barbara's fingernails.
Investigators searched for but never found either the truck or any surveillance video showing a truck matching his description.
Prosecutors made videos demonstrating the sheer unlikelihood of his story.
Todd had injuries on his hands and scratches on his neck.
He told police the hand injuries came from striking the windshield as a reflex, and the scratches from his side job replacing windshields.
Investigators believed they came from a struggle with Barbara.
After a nine-day trial, the jury convicted him of first-degree intentional hom*cide.
The judge sentenced him to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years. His children maintained his innocence throughout.

@Chicago_History I'm glad there's no video footage of this disaster. 😭

Today we remember American Airlines Flight 191 that crashed moments after takeoff from Chicago’s O'Hare International Airport killing all 271 on board and two people on the ground on May 25, 1979.
The aircraft was beginning its takeoff rotation, engine number one (the left engine) separated from the left wing, flipping over the top of the wing and landing on the runway. The aircraft rolled to the left and crashed in a field next to the runway. The disaster is the deadliest aviation accident on US soil. I remember being at work, I wasn't too far from the airport, and we could see black smoke and hear the sirens. Today, that runway is gone and 47 years later, the crash site near O’Hare International Airport is slated to become of part of a tollway. The families of the 273 people killed are pushing for a memorial marker there.
