I’m gonna make an insane theory here and say burial is gonna reveal that Ashley was actually the favoured child and that a lot of the shit Ashley says about her mother, while some of it is true a lot of it is warped with her own self centred view.

tcoaal reveals something that extremely common in the real world. If a parent abuses and neglects their children in a shitty environment, it's the children that are going to "held accountable" for their behaviour and whatever they've envitably turned into.
