Sleep and insulin-resistance markers: what does population data suggest? In a large NHANES analysis, weekday sleep showed an inverted U-shaped association with eGDR, a surrogate marker related to insulin sensitivity, with the best-associated point around 7.3 hours. In shorter weekday sleepers, 1–2 hours of weekend catch-up was associated with better eGDR patterns than no catch-up, while larger catch-up was associated with worse patterns.
