@PattyMurray It is already illegal to pay somebody less just because of their sex. We all lose thousands of dollars (that we actually earned) to taxes every year. Cut spending.

Women, & especially women of color, lose thousands of dollars each year because of the pay gap—making it even harder for women to save for retirement, afford child care, & make ends meet. We need to close the gender wage gap, and that starts by passing the Paycheck Fairness Act.

I'm not trying to flex here. I am eternally grateful to be blessed enough to be able to do this for my family, and I pray that, God willing, we continue to be so blessed. In all seriousness, I fear we're about to see meat prices go quite a bit higher. Besides quality differences (of which there are plenty), buying in bulk from a local farmer like this, even if it's a half or a quarter, will save you substantial money per pound, when considered across all cuts of meat you'll get. It's not just your sustainment and your health. It's also your finances. Consider it dollar-cost averaging with meat. Also, a half cow could conceivably feed a family for a year or more, if you don't eat beef every day. That's food security you simply will not get by relying on the local supermarket.

@4nt1p4tt3rn Thank you, there is a farmers market in town during the summer, but I usually drive by because the stuff by the road is the arts and crafts stuff. Might be worth stopping in and asking around.

Look around online for resources that list farms in your area, or simply search for "farm in [insert location]". Lots of farms also have small farm stores and sell right from the farm. Also find your local farmer's markets (the real ones, not the ones that sell art and cooked food); usually will be someone selling meat there. Or just ask around there. Farmers are fairly tight-knit, and someone might know of someone.

Here once they get to the auction part it is the end of the season and those are the animals that went to show. While for a good cause, those are going to go for crazy money.

@Leftistdeelite @4nt1p4tt3rn That is something I didn't think about till I was just reading on their website. Apparently their auction isn't until August, so I should have some time to figure out the details before then.

@NoworytaEdward @4nt1p4tt3rn Many of them are also familiar with local lockers for processing. Thankfully the people we have arrange the date for the batch going in, and transport to the locker. Here the hardest thing is getting a locker date. Not enough people doing custom cutting anymore.

@NoworytaEdward @4nt1p4tt3rn We found ours from a local processing facility. I would also suggest local 4H or FFA people. For our hogs, we have been getting them from one of the local 4H kids. They start with quite a few, then whittle down what to show. Sell the rest to fund the process.

Here is an interesting thought experiment. Have you considered if it is legally possible to not accept USPS mail delivery for your property? Can you refuse having a mailbox for your property etc?
