I’m alone.
I haven’t seen another human face in 11 years.
And if I die tonight this is the last thing I want the Universe to know.
My world was not destroyed by a meteor.
Or a war.
We were destroyed by our choices.
And the cure existed.
We just never let it grow.
When I was young, they said climate change was “under control.”
That we had “agreements,” “net zero targets,” and “pledges.”
Lies.
Pretty lies.
Very dangerous lies.
We kept burning, Kept flying, Kept building fake solutions that padded profit sheets but left the atmosphere choking.
And then the fires came.
Then the floods.
Then the famine.
I lost my wife to contaminated water.
I lost my daughter to heatstroke at 42°C.
I watched my sons waste away on poisoned food because the soil had turned to acid and we didn’t know why.
One day, my little boy Eli looked at me and asked,
“Why didn’t they fix it?”
I didn’t have an answer.
Because we could have.

There would still be birds outside this bunker.
The oceans wouldn’t be boiling.
The ground wouldn’t crack under my feet.
But instead, I wake up every day to silence and dust.
Because the world waited.
The idea was there, but we were too blind, too slow, too greedy.
