Faff to install? No. Half day, including running the electrics. Noisy? Definitely not. Split systems keep the actual heat pump outside, but it barely hums anyway.

So much of the domestic aircon chat is super ill informed. It's expensive to install? Moderately. ~5k for two air source heat pumps (heating and cooling). Enough for a mid sized detached house. It's expensive to run? I have noticed no change in bills, but I don't study them
