everytime i see simon talk about world gen 2, and ever since that blog post, i go through the exciting future of Hytale in my head. once world gen 2 rolls out, imo, that is the true beginning of #Hytale. i cannot formulate into words how excited i am for that. I think the core community knows how big it will be, but i really don’t think most people are ready for what the game will become once it’s out. call me an overhyper all you want, but just with the additions of the friends list, prox chat, and server browser, you are watching this game swiftly evolve in real time. World gen v2 will bring the addition of many desired features in their peak form. it enables true boundless creativity, not only from the developer standpoint of being able to create and place new prefabs in the vast terrain and allows for the world to breathe new immersive life and so much more, but it also allows the player to express themselves even more by building in the new environment and traverse the world while scaling the new elevations and views. mountains will be grander, the fields will be more full of life, all with the additions of new prefabs and bits and pieces of the story that will slowly unfold alongside world gen v2. and its crazy to think that despite the fact that wg v2 might seem far away, we will continue to get even more features to fill Hytale until it’s ready. the game continues to get more content, more stuff to do, more to experience, all in prep for wg v2. this could be small general quests, more animal interactions, more ambient features, etc. and reminder, once Hytale is in 1.0, we will then most likely start to see the development of the Capital. new servers will arise alongside, and Hytale will undoubtedly reach new player peaks. i know im not the only one that sees this. there will be a point in time where we have to decide between playing adventure mode, creative, mods, the capital, or other Hytale servers. the value here is unbelievable! go rewatch the trailer for the 1000th time. remind yourself of what Hytale is, and what it will be. that trailer is the starting point of 1.0 and wg v2. it is super hype to think about getting all of the stuff i just talked about with the release of 1.0, but we cant even begin to imagine what's in store AFTER that. the @Hytale team are such a gem and are genuinely my favorite game devs of all time! get hyped for now and the future!

It's a bit of a mix in terms of production and chapters, we will spend a bit more time on Zone 1 initially (maybe for the first 3 chapters), as we want to establish the "template" of what feels great, then the others will follow up quite quickly. Needless to say, we will create a lot of endgame content, even with Zone 1 (WG2), we can go very far with it: dungeons, events, and much more. We also need to keep the old world gen relevant until all is done, so even tho you might not visit Zone 4 in WG2 for a while, you might need to go to Zone 4 WG1 a few times. I know it's a bit confusing in a message like this, but it will all make sense by Chapter 2 and the lore behind it. We will aim for 2 to 3 biomes per world visit, but we may open up a full zone at some point. The reason we are using these temporary world visits is that wgv2 is constantly getting updated, so it's best for us to have people revisit between chapters and so on. Our goal for the world gen v2 full release is to eventually let you choose where you want to spawn to some degree, so everyone can have a different experience / challenges early on. A bit like Rimworld. No promises, but that's the long-term goal. Balancing the game around 3 entirely different spawn zones and ensuring progression is not easy! The fun part is that each zone would come with its own set of challenges.

The contest submissions have been blowing me away. Honestly didn't expect this volume or quality this early, and it's lighting a fire under me to push harder on the in-game browser so players can actually browse, try them, and see how much is already there. After voting wraps up, we're going to spotlight many submissions, including those that didn't get nominated! FYI, I'm purposely staying quiet on individual submissions while voting is still open. I want it to be fair, and the easiest way to do that is to keep my opinions out of the feed until the results are in :)

The Cove is currently my most advanced WGV2 project. I’ve lost count of the hours spent on it, and thanks to @nepertunity, it became something truly unique. It’s built on controlled procedural generation, a technique developed specifically for this biome: fully procedural terrain, but with guided randomness to keep it recognizable. I use math to define a base shape, then distort it through generation. It would’ve been easier to keep it as a spawn biome, but I prefer pushing what’s possible 😄 It’s currently a bit laggy due to heavy node usage, but I’ll focus on optimization in the coming weeks. You can also very rarely encounter it in the oceans of neymeros. #hytale #hytalemodding

Here’s a sneak peek at the upcoming Prefab Preview UI element which will be included in this week’s pre-release (Update 5, Part 7)! 👀 As you can see from the clip, there is full mouse-controlled rotation, tilt, zoom, and pan. It can also be configured for custom server UIs! Lots of amazing opportunities for this! Everything from cosmetic builds/map previews for minigames, RTS buildings in menus, etc. We genuinely can’t wait to see what modders and server owners do with this tool! #Hytale

Pre-Release Patch Notes (April 30, 2026) Update 5 (Part 6) Enable via Launcher → Settings → Pre-Release Small note on Update 5: we’re giving this one a bit more time on purpose! There’s a lot of backend/social/creator tech in this batch, including friends list work, server discovery, Trigger Volumes, creative tools, audio/music work, and modding changes. We also want to align it with better mod versioning, so modders, server owners, and players have a better experience when we update. This will continue to improve drastically over time, but the TLDR is: you will be able to go back to some previous major versions from the launcher.
