Romania shows solidarity via humanitarian assistance. It is in this spirit that, alongside our EU partners, we have decided to support the civilian population in Lebanon, severely affected by the current security crisis in the Middle East. Today, 15 tons of humanitarian aid from the National State Reserves of Romania - food, tents, and essential shelter items - departed for Amman, aboard two aircraft of the Romanian Air Force @MApNRomania. This operation reflects the capacity for rapid response, as well as our effective interinstitutional national and European cooperation. From Jordan, the humanitarian aid will reach Beirut, Lebanon, as part of a multinational humanitarian convoy. The decision to provide this assistance was adopted within the National Committee for Emergency Situations, in response to the request transmitted through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which also covers 75% of transport costs.
