When people talk about improving electricity and they are asking for more generation of electricity, it shows a lack of understanding of our situation. Nigeria has an installed electricity generation capacity of 14,000MW. However peak generation/ transmission ever in the country is around 5,800MW. Biggest constraint is GAS. Biggest constraint to gas is pricing and infrastructure. For example, Escravos gas assets owned by Chevron that should optimally produce > 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas daily is doing less than 700 million cubic feet of gas daily due to years of underinvestments. Even if we get enough gas today , we simply can’t effectively transmit our installed generation capacity due lack of infrastructure. Case in point, we aren’t transmitting all of the power generation from Zungeru power plant and if Mambilla becomes operational we will still need an entirely new transmission line to evacuate power. Even if we could evacuate all the electricity generated, we can’t distribute all effectively due to underinvestment in the distribution network. We also can’t guarantee optimal billing and revenue collection due to metering gap. The problem is hydra headed but we still haven’t figured out a policy that allows all the segments of the electricity chain act in sync towards the same goal. Government( FG and states) is also yet to own the problem. If electricity is essential then government must lead from the front. Expecting private players to swam in at this point is living in a fool’s paradise. If there is a policy that can cause the cascade of reaction needed to bring investment, it’s liberalizing price and metering. In the meantime time, the government must liberalize price, commit to fully enforcing huge penalty on gas flaring, close the meter gap, ensure recapitalization of generation and distribution companies, divest from Niger delta power holding company while listing its shares in the capital market build new transmission corridors around mapped out industrial areas ( present or future).

From Waterways to Osun Ambition: How Oyebamiji’s Administrative Genius Could Transform Osun State Economy if Elected. In a country where public institutions often falter under inefficiency, few administrators leave a tangible legacy of growth. One such rare figure is Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), whose tenure has been defined by bold revenue expansion and structural reform. Under his leadership, NIWA evolved from a routine agency into a revenue generating engine. Before resignation, his 2025 fiscal projections to the National Assembly, Oyebamiji outlined an ambitious plan to grow the agency’s revenue by over 200%, targeting N34.389 billion, with N9.054 billion to be remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. This was a dramatic leap from the N2.625 billion remitted in 2023 before his tenure, and built on the N5.9 billion 77% increase achieved in 2024, results that speak to both ambition and a deep mastery of financial systems. Yet, Oyebamiji’s impact extends beyond numbers. His governance philosophy, anchored in structure, accountability, and innovation, allowed him to unlock dormant economic value within the government institution. Through mechanisms such as the Port Development Levy, property leases, and improved internal revenue generation, he demonstrated precisely the kind of fiscal and administrative expertise that Osun State urgently needs. What distinguishes Oyebamiji is not only technical skill but consistent delivery. His approach follows a clear pattern: identify inefficiencies, design systems, and scale outcomes. This blend of strategic thinking and execution has earned him recognition as a “quiet reformer” and, increasingly, a wizard of public administration. As Osun faces pressing challenges, declining revenues, infrastructure needs, civil service reform, and social welfare demands, the next leadership phase requires more than rhetoric. It demands fiscal intelligence and administrative precision, qualities Oyebamiji has repeatedly demonstrated. Analysts note that his NIWA experience provides a blueprint for state level transformation. If applied in Osun, similar strategies in revenue expansion, asset optimization, and institutional efficiency could significantly boost the state’s economic fortunes. Beyond economics, such growth has real human impact: better roads, improved healthcare, strengthened education, and enhanced welfare for civil servants. It represents a government capable of meeting obligations while investing meaningfully in its people. For many, the question is no longer whether Oyebamiji understands governance, but whether Osun is ready to leverage that expertise. His record shows a leader who transforms bureaucratic systems into engines of development, viewing governance not as a platform for politics, but as a tool for measurable progress. Ultimately, the promise of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is rooted in a simple yet powerful principle: proven capacity. For a state like Osun, eager for economic expansion and institutional renewal, that difference could mean the transformation Osun State has long awaited, for every son and daughter of the state. @OluwagbengaGK @rainbowinger @t0sinadeda You mean electricity. That sector needs enough liquidity it can get. Sadly, the total removal of that subsidy will be too brutal on Nigerians. I wish we have another way out.

This man has made some really crazy moves with policies, that is akin to political suicide. He's been moving like he doesn't give a damn about the possibilities of sabotaging his second term. Literally taking money from the mouths of the cankerworms that have built castles on the head of Nigeria and Nigerians. Yet, everyone wants to align. What a man!

Dear Nigerians, Effective February 13, 2026, I signed an Executive Order to restore what belongs to the Nigerian people. For too long, excessive deductions, overlapping funds, and structural distortions in the oil and gas sector have weakened remittances to the Federation Account. When revenues meant for federal, state, and local governments are trapped in layers of charges and retention mechanisms, development suffers. That must end. With Order 9 of 2026 (Presidential Executive Order to Safeguard Federation Oil and Gas Revenues and Provide Regulatory Clarity, 2026) which has now been gazetted, all Royalty Oil, Tax Oil, Profit Oil, Profit Gas, and other government entitlements under Production Sharing and related contracts will now be paid directly into the Federation Account. The additional 30 per cent management fee and the 30 per cent Frontier Exploration deduction will no longer stand in the way of national revenue. Our objective is transparency, accountability, and full constitutional compliance. Oil and gas revenues must serve the Nigerian people first and this reform is about fairness and fiscal responsibility. As we strengthen national security, invest in education, expand healthcare, stabilise the economy, and advance our energy transition, every legitimate naira due to the Federation must be protected. NNPC Limited will operate strictly as a commercial enterprise, as intended under law. The era of duplicative deductions and fragmented oversight is over. Our administration will also undertake a comprehensive review of the Petroleum Industry Act to address structural and fiscal anomalies that weaken national revenue. I have also approved the establishment of an Implementation Committee to oversee and ensure the effective, coordinated implementation of the executive order. Nigeria can no longer afford leakage where there should be leadership. We are safeguarding the Federation Account. We are strengthening our budget. We are acting in the national interest. This was my promise to Nigerians when I asked for this job. Nigeria First. I thank you all. Bola Ahmed Tinubu President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria

Ekiti-born teacher, Mr Seyi Anifowose, set a Guinness World Record for the largest teachers’ gathering Ekiti born teacher and education advocate, Mr. Seyi Anifowose, has achieved a Guinness World Record for organizing the largest gathering of teachers at the “Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025” in Lagos on September 20. The record was confirmed by Rishi Nath from Guinness World Records during a Zoom call on September 23. The event, organized by 1 Million Teachers, aimed to highlight the need for better recognition, welfare, and policy support for educators, with an expected attendance of 60,000 teachers. Anifowose stated, “This is proof that teachers matter. It is a victory for education and Nigeria.” The conference took place at Tafawa Balewa Square, symbolizing national significance as the site of Nigeria's independence in 1960. Despite challenges like adverse weather and long wait times, the commitment of the teachers shone through. Anifowose expressed gratitude to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his home-state governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, for their support, along with teacher unions and educational agencies. Looking ahead, Anifowose aims to advocate for reforms within the National Assembly to address issues in Nigeria’s education system, which has long faced problems like underfunding and teacher shortages. By securing this world record, he hopes to turn recognition into meaningful change for teachers nationwide.

NIS to Deliver Passports Within One Week, Scales Up Production Capacity to 4,000–5,000 Daily The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) plans to deliver passports to Nigerians within one week, following the centralisation of passport production for the first time in 62 years. Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced this on Thursday during an inspection of the new Centralised Passport Personalisation Centre at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja. “The project is 100 per cent ready. Nigeria can now be more productive and efficient in delivering passport services,” Tunji-Ojo said. He explained that old machines could only produce 250 to 300 passports daily, but the new system had a capacity of 4,500 to 5,000 passports every day. “With this, NIS can now meet daily demands within just four to five hours of operation,” he added, describing it as a game-changer for passport processing in Nigeria. “We promised two-week delivery, and we’re now pushing for one week. “Automation and optimisation are crucial for keeping this promise to Nigerians,” the minister said. He noted that centralisation, in line with global standards, would improve uniformity and enhance the overall integrity of Nigerian travel documents worldwide. He said the centralised production system aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, boosting NIS capacity and changing the narrative for better service delivery.
