Simpson PS Nursery

This week Primary 1 teachers for next session set us a very important task. Each teacher at the classroom visits read a story to their class, Today the children used counters to vote for their favourite & this book will be used throughout the beginning of primary 1 📚#childsvoice

Today we had a fantastic visit from Karen one of our local volunteer first responders to teach our children some basic life saving skills and CPR. This was a great experience for our children and we would like to thank Karen for coming into nursery today!

Have you heard about SIMOA our purple elephant? She helps us to keep everyone safe at nursery. Whilst out in the garden the children take part in our ‘SIMOA circle’ to help count everyone & find out how many children are outside! Listen to this fantastic counting #SafeSally 🐘💜

The children have been showing an interest all about new life as we enter Spring. This has included investigating the life cycle of plants & the life cycle of butterflies. Today we had an exciting delivery of our very own caterpillars. Looking forward to watching this process 🐛

Using our promethean panel we have been discussing, choosing and ordering our snack for next week. Some of the children then decided to draw pictures of their favourite foods/ snacks we have at nursery 🍎🍌 #HealthyHenry #digitallearning

At nursery recently the children have shown an interest in birds as we have been taking part in the RSPB big birdwatch. Today some of the children took a walk into our local community using our checklist to see what birds we could spot 🦢🐦‍⬛ #outdoorlearning @RSPBScotland

Making some orange cupcakes using a range of mathematical language whilst measuring out the ingredients 🧁🍊

What a great day we had today as we made and enjoyed our pancakes. We also had the delight of our ‘Grandparents day’ falling on pancake day, giving us the opportunity to enjoy pancakes with some lovely visitors 😀🥞

At nursery we have been celebrating and learning all about Chinese new year. Lots of fun as we took part in our very own dragon dance through the school, tasting yummy chinese food and investigating a range of Chinese symbols 🇨🇳🐉

A little reminder that we are hosting a biscuits and blether this Friday in the community wing focusing on how we use the colour monster at nursery and to share some of our recent learning. It would be great to see some of you there 🩷

Before Christmas the children were given the opportunity to have their say and vote on this years procession theme! The votes have now been counted & the big reveal is going to be shared on Friday during assemblies.. who’s excited to find out 👀🎉

What an absolutely amazing day at our Christmas show! The children were fantastic on the stage and we are so proud of each and every one of them. Thank you to everyone for coming along today was lovely to see such a busy enthusiastic crowd 🎅🏼🎄

Our Christmas lunch today was a huge hit! What a lovely had by all and a very delicious lunch served by our kitchen. Thank you for all the hard work this took to prepare 🎅🏼🎄

This week we hosted our ‘Festive fire pit sessions’. This was a lovely experience for families to share with their children while learning how we stay safe around our fire using Safe Sally and share some Christmas cheer! Thankyou all so much for attending #Simpsonfamilylearning

This week we held a Stay, Play and Learn session focusing all about how to make play-dough and how this could be done at home. Thankyou to all our families who attended. Please see our display in the cloakroom for a recipe you can try at home too! #Simpsonfamilylearning

This week at nursery the children have been talking all about the dark. Using our talking tub we investigated torches, bright clothes, night animals and how to stay safe! This then turned into an interest of shadows.. look at our fantastic shadow puppet show 🔦 #childledlearning

The children have recently been showing an interest in the Gruffalo. We have been exploring the animals within the story and taking adventures through the woods of wester inch! Some children have posted a letter to the Gruffalo & we are hoping for a special visit to nursery 👀🌳

Today we have been exploring our emotions using The Colour Monster story. This is a great way of getting our children to talk about how they feel and why they may feel that way. Using lollipop sticks & jars the children can share their feelings with the adults at nursery everyday

Miss Sneddon was delighted to share our UNCRC journey at the Early Level Conference on Friday. Looking forward to continuing our journey with the many new families that have recently joined us 😀
