NYSC BANK ACCOUNT OPENING Q&As 👉🏽 1. QUESTION: Is it compulsory to open a new bank account in camp? Answer: Yes, you must open a new bank account when you get to camp. 👉🏽 2. QUESTION: I have a bank account before, do I still need to open another new bank account at the Orientation Camp? Answer: All corps members are obligated to open a new bank account during camp registration. It doesn't matter if you have an existing account with the bank in question. As far as NYSC is concerned, a new account must be opened. 👉🏽3. QUESTION: What type of account is it? Is it different from the normal day to day bank account? Answer: It is the usual "savings account", and not different from the normal day to day "savings" bank account. 👉🏽 4. QUESTION: Where are we going for the NYSC bank account opening? Are we allowed to go outside the Orientation Camp to open it? Answer: No, you won't be allowed to go outside the camp. Staff from designated banks will be available in camp to help you facilitate the process. 👉🏽 5. QUESTION: Is it possible to open a new bank account before going to camp? Answer: No, it's not possible. Opening NYSC allowance account is one of the stages you undergo during camp registration. NYSC must clear you before you can open the account. In fact, it's your camp clearance documents that will be used in opening the account. 👉🏽 6. QUESTION: You said different bank agents will be available in camp to help us open the account. Which of the banks should I go for? Answer: NYSC will allocate banks according to your state code. You're to go to the bank stand you've been assigned. 👉🏽 7. QUESTION: Must the name I used for BVN match the one I am using for NYSC? *Answer:* Since the account will be opened with your NYSC name (as provided by your school), mismatch with your name on BVN *might* give you problems if you want to withdraw your money in the future. Should you have name inconsistencies on your BVN, I suggest you go and rectify it to avoid the backs and forths later. 👉🏽 8. QUESTION: What are the documents required for opening NYSC allowance account? Answer: The documents which will be required of you are: Your Passport photograph, BVN, NIN, and NYSC clearance paper which you will get after you have completed the necessary camp registrations. Your full name will be written in bold in all your documents. So, if the names in your documents do not match with the one you have on BVN, it *might* give you problem later in the future. 👉🏽 9. QUESTION: What if I do not have a bank account or BVN? Answer: Your academic qualification needs to be questioned then because you have no business enrolling for NYSC. 👉🏽 10. QUESTION: What if I don't need NYSC allowance, is it compulsory to receive it? Answer: Receiving NYSC allowance is proof that you're indeed serving because it involves a lot of clearance. If for any reason you don't need the cash, you can request for my account number so I can take the burden off you. 👉🏽 11. QUESTION: Can I use my NYSC account to receive money from family and friends? Answer: Of course, you can use it to receive money from every Tom, Dick, and Harry. 👉🏽 12. QUESTION: The date of birth on my records with NYSC is different from what I have on my BVN. Will it be a problem? *Answer:* Your date of birth on your BVN doesn't matter. What matters is the name. 👉🏽 13. QUESTION: What will happen to my NYSC allowance account after my one year service? Answer: NYSC will stop paying you monthly allowances but you can continue using the account for other transactions.

IMPORTANT TIPS ON SCHOOL ID CARD BEFORE NYSC CAMP OPENS Your original school ID card is a mandatory document for NYSC camp registration. If your ID card has been collected, lost, or damaged, your institution should issue you a new one or provide your original degree certificate, which can serve as a replacement. If that isn’t possible, you can obtain a Letter of Identification from your institution or have a replacement ID produced by a reputable cyber café familiar with your school’s ID card design. An expired original school ID card is still acceptable for camp registration.

Dear PCMs with Call-Up Numbers, While waiting for your Call-Up Letter, if you have a preferred PPA where you’d like to serve, collect a request letter from them and take it to camp for direct posting. Start searching for a good PPA now. Looking for a PPA after camp can be stressful.
