Really?? Best before date is not the cause of food insecurity. The government knows exactly what is causing food insecurity--anything to distract from the real problem. Smh
CityNews Toronto@CityNewsTO

Canadians’ misunderstanding of best before dates could be contributing to excess food waste and, in turn, food insecurity, experts say as a government committee urges Ottawa to examine the issue. toronto.citynews.ca/2023/07/04/ott…

“Do you represent us as injured workers? Do you represent our families who hurt when we are hurting? So today, we’re sending a message that we’re not going to back down. It’s about respect for injured workers.” - Andria Babbington @torontolabour President, #InjuredWorkersDay

Thinking the time is ripe for an @OCAPtoronto successor to enter the stage, and take the fight up a notch Begging the City and Province to act humanely, in accordance with international human rights law hasn't worked well, in the years since OCAP was a force to be reckoned with

Articulating, deputing, declaring, witnessing, begging, praying, speaking, gathering, rallying, dying-in, crying. This is what WE have been doing, desperate to achieve the most basic human right. Shelter. The response is now in @JohnTory’s hands. @SHJNetwork @StoneSoupNet

It can't be overstated just how important @OCAPtoronto was in advocating for social justice in Ontario, especially during the horrific Mike Harris era. #onpoli

We spoke directly with @globalnewsto today and answered all the questions drafted up by @isaaccallan yet the piece they ended up running today only contained commentary from the city and TO police. This is not how you run a story on an encampment eviction. globalnews.ca/news/8915077/c…
Doug Johnson Hatlem@djjohnso

@isaaccallan there are clear public statements from @ESNParkdale online, I offered directly to speak to Global reporters on scene, and we have cooperated w/Global stories repeatedly Writing a story with only police/City comment and not other side is propaganda, not journalism

Again, let's be clear: This is an act of violence & an escalation in their war against the poor. We will not forget this, City Hall will never bring us justice. We must continue to organize power from below. Together we will bring the fight to liberate housing. /5

In all cases, clearing Clarence Square means more people are pushed to the streets. But this will only lead to more encampments in the near future. Toronto again chooses to just kick the can down the road instead of taking real action. cbc.ca/news/canada/to… /4

Toronto's decision to dismantle Clarence Square this morning is an escalation in their war against the poor. The City had an opportunity to provide housing like in Dufferin Grove last year. Instead to they chose violence. Clearing Clarence Square will have a ripple effect: /1

So Toronto Mayor Tory has now "privatized" the criminalization of poverty. With two sole sourced "security" contracts totalling $1m given the mandate to keep poor people from setting up living quarters in parks like Trinity Bellwoods. Shame! @OCAPtoronto #canlab #nooneisillegal
