The original photos were actually taken in black and white (as seen here!). The surreal colors on the final album cover were hand-tinted later by artist Terry Pastor. Bowie also had a terrible case of the flu this night, which is why he didn't want to stray far from the warm studio to take the photos. The location is 23 Heddon Street, right under the sign for "K. West"—a furrier company that became an accidental landmark for rock fans.

Ten years. And yet he’s never really absent. David lived in curiosity and courage. I still feel him when I sit at the piano. His spirit lives on in the music, challenging us to listen harder, think deeper, and never settle for the obvious. What we shared went beyond notes and performances. I’m grateful every day for the time, his trust, and the music. Thank you, David.

Always a beacon of light. Bromley days remembered. Future dreams shared. I think, of all the amazing people I have met and/or worked with in my life, D B is the one whose loss tears me up the most because I really feel he wasn't done; he still had so much more to give and share.
