Our principals and district leaders participate in a monthly leadership and professional development meeting to succeed in our mission to be the highest performing school district in Georgia! Today's training took principals to their colleagues' schools across our district to see best instructional practices in action. The school visits showcased instructional leadership work, with topics ranging from how teachers leverage student performance data for improvement to how new School Board-approved English language arts and math resources are being used effectively in our classrooms. 3rd and 4th grade used hexagonal thinking to determine the cause of the holes in the skull. Students had to create yes, or no questions, and then created a claim. Then students figured out how their claims were related to derive their final answer.@OG @CherokeeSchools

Two of our teachers have been named 2026 Georgia STEM Scholars! Keith Furstenberg of Free Home Elementary School and Tammy Owen of Oak Grove ES STEAM Academy earned the honor that is presented annually by the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers. Only 25 elementary and middle school teachers from a pool of statewide nominees were recognized as 2026 Don Cargill STEM Scholar Award winners.
