Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, please explain. A couple of days ago, it was impossible to create an account, whether corporate or individual, to file taxes. Last week, that hurdle was somehow bypassed, but then NINs were not being approved or validated, preventing users from proceeding to the next step. Now, even for those who managed to get past that stage, payments cannot be made. Today, I received a response to a tweet I made less than 24 hours ago about the challenges of registering and filing taxes in Ogun State. The handler said the issue would be looked into. But what is the current state of the official website? It cannot even be accessed. Despite being fully aware of the struggles citizens are facing while trying to file their taxes, this agency still went ahead to set the deadline as March 31st. Do you deliberately want citizens to be penalised for not filing on time??? @NigeriaRevenue @AnythingNRS @OGIRSgovng I do not understand the point of your response when the site has gone from bad to worse and is now completely inaccessible.

The spirit of excellence feels completely missing from Nigeria’s governance structure. After spending hours trying to create an account just to file my tax, I finally got lucky and the site moved me to the next stage where I could fill in my registration details, only to run into another hurdle. Now I’m stuck at the NIN verification stage. Every attempt to verify it fails, and there’s no option to skip it.
