🇿🇦 A senior South African politician just got caught lying about Starlink to protect mobile network operators. Parliamentary communications chair Khusela Diko claimed Starlink "doesn't move the needle" on school connectivity. Here's what she left out: 16,000 schools still have no internet after 12 years, a missed deadline, and mobile operators billions over budget. Starlink offered to connect 5,000 schools for free and was turned away. A rural mobile tower costs around $61,000 and can serve just a single school. The numbers don't lie. The politician did. If 5,000 rural schools getting high speed internet for FREE is nothing, then what is the government's something? Because right now, the only thing moving is the talent and investment leaving South Africa for markets that actually want to compete. SA Government says mobile operators are doing more, but those same operators are charging the very people who can't afford bread. Starlink is offering a R500 million bypass to that poverty trap.

@CollinRugg @L1569Uptown Disagree. A just society would have publicly executed all four of those pieces of human filth. Torturing a disabled person for multiple days shows a level of depravity and disrespect for human life that does not allow them to operate in civil society going forward.

The correct focus for the justice system is answering the question "will this person re-offend?" As long as the answer is "yes" the criminal needs to be kept away from other people. That's it. That's all that we need the justice system to do. Easy, focused, effective.

When will our Judicial system stop releasing these violent offenders back into our society? It has become very clear that they will most likely repeat their criminal behavior as we have witnessed in the majority of these cases. We need to start holding our Judicial system accountable for not protecting the citizens. We need laws that strips immunity from these judges who feel they are untouchable.
