OJS Year 6

Another fun week of learning in Year Six as children learnt about the cardiovascular and respiratory systems during their Science lessons!

Year 6 completed their cardiovascular circuits in PE this week. It was tough but we definitely got those hearts pumping!

Yesterday, Year 6 learnt how to use texture and tone in their one-point perspective Artwork. Well done!

Today Year Six have learnt about LS Lowry and one-point perspective. Children used their knowledge of vanishing points and horizon lines to complete drawings. Well done, Year Six!

Year 6 have started the year by studying Systems and Networks in Computing. Children had the opportunity to find IP Addresses, explore data packets and work collaboratively using Google Docs to create a poster.

Good luck in secondary school to all of our amazing Year 6 pupils. Thank you for a brilliant year, we will miss you but excited for you to experience new challenges and adventures! 🫶 Miss Nickson, Mr Isaacs and Mr Byrne

Year Six performed their first dress rehearsal today in front of the school. Their performance was amazing and we look forward to welcoming parents next week for two shows. Well done to the whole of the cohort for such a brilliant performance!

Rowan class started this morning with a guard of honour to celebrate our Millionaire Reader! 🎉 🎉🎉

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to make cupcakes in Design & Technology. Children have been learning about Amelia Simmons, aesthetics and food hygiene. Well done on your fabulous creations Year Six!

Year 6 had a visit from our local police officer today. She talked to them about being a good citizen and staying safe.

A massive thank you to the @TRFCCommunity Dancers for coming in to today and working with our dance group! They had loads of fun and were really excited!! 💃 👯‍♀️🤩

We really enjoyed having @kids_open_minds this morning and are excited for our sessions for the remainder of the term!

This afternoon, Year Six have evaluated their peers’ projects by providing constructive feedback. Children have previously created games using variables and sprites on @scratch

This morning, Year Six used the VR headsets to explore Antarctica and understand the conditions Shackleton encountered during his expedition.

Sycamore class showed resilience, determination and teamwork to create a freestanding tetrahedron! Thank you for the great experience @mathswhizz

SATs are OVER!! An afternoon of fun and leaver’s hoodies for us this afternoon 🥳🤩 Year 6 have worked INCREDIBLY hard and we are so proud!

In Science this week, children have created their own shadow puppets to retell fairytales. We have learnt that the closer an object is to a light source, the more light it blocks, resulting in a larger shadow.
