By the time the eagle attains forty years, its body is weak and no longer fit for purpose. The beak becomes soft and unable to tear its prey, while the talons weaken, making it difficult to pounce and lift its catch. The feathers also become overgrown and heavy, further complicating flight.
With these challenges, survival is at risk. And tough choices are required.
To buy a new lease of life, the eagle retreats to a faraway place. It hits its beak against a rock until it breaks, sheds its talons to allow fresh growth, and finally plucks its feathers, enduring the harsh elements while awaiting new, lighter feathers to grow.
During the sojourn, many rumours make the rounds. Some say it died, while others say it was eaten. But the eagle remains silent.
After the sojourn, the eagle flies back home energised, renewed, and focused.
Have a good evening, Nakuru.

“Listen to online billionaires long enough and you’ll start believing Ksh100K is pocket change".
I did a quick audit of my monthly spending and realized I spent Ksh53K last month.
Breakdown:
• Fuel — Ksh10K ( I barely drove)
• Food — Ksh8,500 (lowered significantly since most of my food is homegrown)
• Wine — Ksh3,500 for a 1.5L bottle of my preferred Carlo Rosé
• Wi-Fi — Ksh3K
• Family support — Ksh12K
• Entertainment — Ksh8K
• Airtime — Ksh2K ( I usually buy those minutes that comes with free data)
• Tea & coffee — Ksh6K (mostly those evening meetups and small-talk sessions with friends)
What stood out most wasn’t the spending, but the allocation discipline.
I currently live off passive income, with a target of reinvesting at least 40% of my monthly cash flows back into income-generating assets.
Last month, I reinvested 60% of my passive income, outperforming my own benchmark.
That’s the essence of financial independence: lifestyle sustainability, controlled spending, and capital recycling through disciplined reinvestment.

@VictorNyakund10 Save your money where you want. Leave us Sacco life members alone, Donge?
English

I am not against SACCOs. They work well for many people, especially those seeking disciplined savings, dividend income, and access to relatively affordable credit. However, personally, I have never been a strong fan of the SACCO model in Kenya and I have never joined any!
Here is why:
1.Why should I write a withdrawal letter and wait 60 days or more just to access my own savings?
Most SACCOs impose notice periods before refunds are processed, especially for non-withdrawable deposits. While this is meant to protect liquidity and the stability of the SACCO, it significantly reduces financial flexibility for members.
2.Why is it that if I accumulate share capital worth Ksh 1 million, I may not freely access it unless another member agrees to buy or transfer the shares from me?Why can't I sell them or why can't the sacco pay me and absorb them?
Unfortunately, in many SACCOs, share capital forms part of the institution’s permanent/core capital and is generally non-withdrawable. In most cases, it can only be transferred or sold to another member upon exit.
3.Why should I borrow “cheap loans” against my own savings instead of simply withdrawing my savings?
The SACCO model is designed around leveraging deposits to create access to credit rather than allowing unrestricted withdrawals. This works well for members who want long-term disciplined savings and credit access, but for liquidity-focused investors, it may feel inefficient.
Why do I need guarantors to borrow money that is already secured by my own deposits?
Many SACCOs require guarantors because loans are issued based on cooperative risk-sharing principles. Members often qualify for loans worth two to three times their deposits, and guarantors act as additional security to protect the SACCO from defaults.
From a purely liquidity and capital-efficiency perspective, it may not always make financial sense to pay interest on a Ksh 300,000 loan when you already have Ksh 600,000 locked in deposits that are not easily accessible

@Kieni_vic If you want a snack or drink before you continue with your shopping, the best thing is to pay for that one item and then eat it or drink while you do the rest of your shopping with the receipt in your pocket of what you're eating.

Junet, Wanga, and Oburu can't continue to demand for 100 fat bulls for a bride that is washed up. The bride they are offering is past her shelf life - a retired bed-to-bed midfielder and ceiling inspector with 11 tattoos, 9 abortions, and high notch count. Duplicity on stealth.

@FerdyOmondi TVETA should also be dissolved. Where have they been since 2018?
English

Backdating accreditation revocation to 2018 has serious academic and career consequences for students who had nothing to do with your failure to monitor standards.
And what do you mean "It has come to our attention".
After 7 years? It's isn’t just KIM that is incompetent here.
No wonder there is no signature or name.
