Last week fourth graders created suns in the style of the Aztec sun stone and learned about radial symmetry. Fifth graders where inspired by the balance of the sun and moon yarn paintings created by the Huichol of Mexico. So much talent! @MobilePublicSch @empowermcpss

Today the first graders at Forest Hill discussed how and why art should be displayed. They made sure all the details of their drawings were just right and then they chose colors to frame their art. Beautiful! @empowermcpss

We are exploring art around the globe. Today we learned about the Japanese art of Shibori dyeing. It's going to be hard to wait to see how these pieces turn out. @empowermcpss @PearlHaskew

We are exploring art from around the world one continent at a time. This week 4th graders were inspired by the works of artist Abdoulaye Konate from Africa. They were given a design challenge to create art using pieces of patterned paper. Amazing work! @empowermcpss @PearlHaskew
