The Implementation Orders around active wildland fires Fort Frances 4 & Fort Frances 5 have been revoked. All travel and use of roads and lakes in these areas are available.

We are responding to North Bay 7, which measures 0.3 of a hectare. This fire is located 0.6 of a kilometre west of Highway 11, and 0.8 of a kilometre west of Tilden Lake. Residents in the area and travellers along Highway 11 may notice smoke. Please stay clear of the area.

We’ve deployed 10 FireRanger crews from the Northeast Region to assist with the wildland fire situation in Northwest Ontario. Our Ontario FireRangers are mobilized throughout the province during the fire season to respond wherever needed.

Dryden 11, east of Sandbar Lake has been remapped to 150.3 hectares and remains not under control. FireRanger crews are making good progress with suppression efforts. The OPP have reopened Highway 599, but we urge the public to use caution in areas where crews are working.

There were 20 new wildland fires confirmed in the Northwest Region yesterday, resulting from extreme winds and warm, dry conditions. As of 9:30 a.m. CDT, there are 12 active fires in the region. Of these, 2 are under control, 2 are being held, and 8 are not under control.

We are actively responding to several new wildland fires that have been confirmed today in the Northwest Region under high to extreme fire hazard conditions. Travel may be impacted by fires near roadways. Please stay clear of areas where crews and aircraft are working.

High to extreme winds may prevent aircraft from safely carrying out aerial suppression operations. Our crews on the ground are continuing to monitor and respond to active fires in the region.

We are currently responding to Dryden 2, a wildland fire located approximately 2 kms northwest of Wabigoon, just north of Highway 17. Residents in the area and those traveling along Highway 17 may notice smoke. Ontario FireRangers are on site with local municipal firefighters.

A prescribed burn is happening today in Mishkeegogamaang Ojibway Nation to protect the community’s safety and remove dry grass that could fuel a future fire.
