@adam_baguette Agree with all of this besides the part about university eduction being required. There are already too many people going to uni getting in loads of debt for useless courses that don’t lead to a reliable career and coaching in esports is definitely not reliable.

Hot take? The barrier to entry for coaching in Rocket League is far too low. We are working with kids who are in their most crucial years for mental, emotional, and social development, yet there are no real standards in place for who gets to guide them. I believe a coach should be at least 21 years old. You need a certain level of maturity and life experience to support young players in a way that is healthy and sustainable. There should be certifications and some form of university education required. This is not just about calling better timeouts or breaking down VODs. Coaching is teaching. It involves critical thinking, communication skills, and an understanding of how to build trust and structure in high-pressure environments. If RLEsports wants to be taken seriously, it needs to professionalize the role of a coach. Rant over 🫡
