Ord io is shutting down on June 1. Three years ago, we launched our idea for "an Ordinals explorer with upvotes". We had no idea what was about to happen. Since then, Ord io has grown into a platform used by over a million people to explore inscriptions on Bitcoin. It brought us so much joy to ship features like Satributes for discovering the rare sats behind inscriptions and Block Vision for monitoring real-time Runes minting activity. Even simple filters and sorting options took on a life of their own. "Sort by largest inscription" quickly turned into a leaderboard where inscribers competed to create the biggest "four megger". And even the things that annoyed us at the time are funny to look back on now, like when the Bitcoin Puppets community would "raid" other collections so hard that we had to remove the downvote feature. To help preserve some of the Bitcoin culture that happened on Ord io, we'll be uploading the full history of upvotes, replies, and public address profiles to GitHub. That way, if someone wants to build their own Ordinals explorer with this context in the future, they can. Thank you to every single artist, collector, dev, and degen who joined us for this ride 🧡

Wanna give a huge shoutout to @LeonidasNFT for his immense contribution to the Bitcoin ecosystem. Feels like everything he’s done for Ordinals came from genuine passion for the space rather than selfish motives — even putting money from his own pocket to help push things forward. Respect where it’s due. 🧡 While it feels really sad hearing the closure news of @ord_io, there’s no denying the mark it has left on the ecosystem. It helped millions of people explore and understand Ordinals, and played a massive role in onboarding the wider community into Bitcoin NFTs. Still optimistic this isn’t the end. Feels more like a pause before a stronger relaunch in the future especially once more people truly understand what Ordinals are and what they’re meant for. Long Live Ordinals! long Live Runes! Long live effort of all contributor to whole bitcoin ecosystem! $DOG #Runes #Ordinals

This is very sad to see Ord shutting down I was there for the rise and fall of Ordinals, and things have been rough this last year Most projects crumbled, and there are a ton of people who lost their jobs One thing different about the Ordinals eco was I genuinely believed in a lot of the hearts of the people building It's easy to not see that when you haven't spent time in the eco or met these people IRL at events I still believe in the future of Bitcoin DeFi, some Ordinals projects, and art on Bitcoin Hopefully it bounces back stronger than ever
