YOUR INPUT MATTERS! Teachers and education workers are being asked to do more with less, while professional judgment and expertise are too often ignored. That’s why @CTFFCE needs to hear from you. If you work in a public school from pre-kindergarten to Grade 12, take a few minutes to complete the Parachute Survey before it closes in only TWO DAYS on May 21. The results will help strengthen advocacy for better working and learning conditions across public education. 📝 Take the survey: bit.ly/4cy1mMM

OSSTF/FEESO President Martha Hradowy is calling for an end to mandatory e-learning in Ontario Secondary Schools. Students learn best when they have direct access to the teachers and education workers, classroom discussions, hands-on learning and participating in a high school community. Mandatory learning has created barriers and inequities for many students, including students with disabilities and those requiring additional supports. 🌈 On IDAHOBIT, #OSSTF reaffirms our commitment to safe, inclusive, and affirming schools, workplaces, and communities for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people. This year’s theme, “At the heart of democracy,” is a reminder that attacks on 2SLGBTQIA+ rights are attacks on equity, inclusion, and human dignity. We stand in solidarity with all those challenging hate and discrimination, today and every day.

A new report from the @ccpa reveals that Ontario’s education funding shortfall has continued to grow, reaching $6.4 billion since 2018. The outcomes of these cuts have been: ➡️increased waitlists for special education supports ➡️under resourced classrooms ➡️aging infrastructure ➡️no reduction in class sizes ➡️anti-racism programs and additional supports for students from lower-income are eliminated We can't fix schools without funding them. MEDIA RELEASE: “The government continues to talk about student achievement, but you cannot improve outcomes while cutting supports” said Martha Hradowy, President of OSSTF/FEEO. “Students succeed when they feel safe, supported, and connected at school. That requires real investment, not just rhetoric. Ontario students deserve more than spare change.” Once again, the Ford government’s core education funding falls short of what students and schools need and does not address the growing pressures facing students and their families, teachers, and education workers across the province. It's students who end up paying the biggest price for this government's chronic underfunding. Ontario deserves FAR better! Read our full response: osstf.on.ca/news/ontario-g…

OSSTF/FEESO is calling for the government to increase funding for students with Special Education Needs. Following the Auditor General of Ontario’s 2026 performance audit on special education, OSSTF/FEESO is once again sounding the alarm that student needs are growing, but the Ford government continues to shortchange schools on the staffing, resources, and supports students require to succeed. Together, with our fellow affiliates, we sent the TDSB a letter to let them know that these continued cuts are not okay. They WILL have an impact on students and they are not acceptable.

We are calling on the government to make real investments in students, from play-based learning opportunities to more in-person supports. OSSTF/FEESO Vice President Malini Leahy was part of a panel on @therundowntvo to discuss cellphone bans in Ontario schools. It is hypocritical for the government to ban cellphone use in schools while increasing online learning by making e-learning mandatory. Listen to the full interview youtube.com/watch?v=Mqz6rW…

President Hradowy met with the Federal Secretary of State for Labour Minister Zerucelli alongside the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and the Canadian Association of University Teachers. At a time when university support staff are facing continued layoffs across the sector, strong advocacy matters more than ever. Support staff are the backbone of our universities—providing essential services, supporting students, and keeping our institutions running day in and day out. They should not be the ones bearing the consequences of underfunding. We must fund the frontlines of post-secondary education—both provincially and nationally. That means sustained investment, protecting good jobs, and ensuring our students and workers are set up to succeed.

Universities are a core economic driver in Ontario... so why are #OSSTF workers at @AlgomaU losing their jobs? Chronic underfunding is forcing institutions into cuts that hurt workers, students, and communities. We need stable, predictable postsecondary funding now. 🔗 bit.ly/429j58y
