@OakStadiumWatch It's the only good location left for a stadium in Sac. Sac Republic didn't have the money to build there before, so I think doing this move now secures the site before the A's have a chance to call dibs.

I don't know Sacramento well enough, but wasn't this the site where they were going to build the A's permanent ballpark (after Vegas falls through)?

Quick note to sports journalists: now that the Athletics are no longer the Oakland Athletics it doesn’t really seem appropriate to use photos of Oakland fans in the Oakland Coliseum as any way affiliated with this team or whatever they do next. Update your image files as needed.

Oakland officially removed from the branding of John Fisher’s baseball team, as of today. Good riddance.

We'll see what John Fisher does next with the baseball team he owns, but wherever he ends up will never reclaim the energy and passion of fans it used to have in Oakland. Maybe they'll try to imitate it, or maybe they'll be content with tourists, but it will be a sad imitation.

The A’s officially are no longer the Oakland A’s. They say they are simply the Athletics. But in fact they are now the Sacramento A’s. They just seem too embarrassed to call themselves that. They should be Sacramento proud. Very odd.

Credit where credit is due: after talking about needing something like relegation in MLB to deal with owners like John Fisher, he jumped ahead of the curve and relegated *himself* to the minor leagues starting next season. Well played.
