Oasis started in 2018 with a simple thesis: blockchains can't scale into anything serious without confidentiality. Since then we've built the most complete privacy stack in crypto, from Sapphire to ROFL, with five years of mainnet uptime and a clean security track record behind it. Now we're going further. Building products directly, owning more of the stack and feeding value back into the network. @PrivanaFinance - a protocol for private trading and self custodied automation - is the first. More products will be announced soon. This is how we double down on our thesis. This is the future of Oasis.
Jernej Kos@JernejKos

The evolution of Oasis Crypto has over-indexed on infrastructure and under-delivered on the consumer-facing value that makes any of it matter. There are exceptions, of course, but as a general rule this is true. This has been clear for a long time, and it's the reality we've refocused our strategy around. Oasis started at Berkeley in 2018, built around the idea that blockchains couldn't scale into something serious without confidentiality. That's the problem I'd been working on, and it became the foundation of what Oasis is today. The throughline from then to now has always been privacy. The recent surge of privacy-focused protocols and renewed focus on the topic validate this thesis we've held all along. What we've accomplished In that time, we built the most complete privacy infrastructure in the industry. Sapphire remains the only confidential EVM runtime in production. Runtime Offchain Logic extends that confidentiality and verifiability to off-chain compute. We've had five years of mainnet uptime, a validator set that's never missed a beat, and a clean security track record. The stack is mature. It works, and it supports real value today. What's been missing is that breakout application that makes the value of this infrastructure more tangible. This is why we're adopting a new strategy focused directly on the application layer. That is where the value is, and where the future will be decided. Where we're going next This is a big change, but one I'm excited about. It means realigning internally, resetting our strategy, and committing to fewer things done exceptionally well. The first result is live, and it's called @PrivanaFinance: DeFi built for humans. Private trading, smart yield, and automation with full self-custody. Everything we've built, combined into a product that couldn't exist without our tech underneath it. We'll keep supporting third-party developers building on Oasis. But shipping products ourselves is how we double down on the original thesis. We own more of the stack, and value flows back into the network. More applications are already in motion, with announcements coming soon. Oasis has been here through every cycle. This is how we lead the next one.

every time you swap on a DEX you're being watched 👀 your transaction sits in the mempool for a few seconds before it settles. every bot on the network can see exactly what you're doing. and some of them are going to act on it. this is MEV and it costs DeFi users over $1 billion a year. a thread 🧵 (1/10)

DeFi isn't dying. It's just growing up. That's actually a good sign. The next wave will be built differently. Joining @Hypernestdao today at 2PM CET to talk about what that looks like, with a recently announced @PrivanaFinance who might just be part of the answer. x.com/i/spaces/1Nxar…

The latest Oasis Update is live. We cover FlexVaults for the first time — something we've been working on behind the scenes: private keys inside a confidential enclave, assets stay on native chains, a programmable policy engine handles signing. No bridges. No custodians. No exposed keys. Also covered: @MidasRWA , @getcontexto , @teepin , @diode_chain, EthCC recap and more. 👀 The first FlexVaults use case drops later today — stay tuned.

1/ Problem: Vercel got hacked. Secrets, API keys, source code exposed. Crypto spent years taking hybrid shortcuts - contracts with frontends on Vercel. Now we see the consequences. Solution: verifiable, tamperproof frontends running inside a TEE.
Vercel@vercel

We’ve identified a security incident that involved unauthorized access to certain internal Vercel systems, impacting a limited subset of customers. Please see our security bulletin: vercel.com/kb/bulletin/ve…

DeFi just moved back in with its parents. Not literally, but close enough. A single-validator bridge gets exploited, billions vanish in two days, and the entire ecosystem (the one that won't shut up about trustlessness) goes running to law enforcement, forensic firms, and centralized exchanges for help. Justin Sun is literally DMing a suspected hacker asking "how much do you want? let's just talk." That's not decentralized justice. That's a hostage negotiation. AAVE wasn't even hacked. It ate $196 million in bad debt because someone else's bridge failed. Depositors got trapped in fully utilized pools. The trustless system failed and the cleanup requires every centralized backstop crypto pretends it doesn't need. This is the cycle. When things work, independence. When things break, dependence. And every time we borrow sovereignty from the traditional system to clean up our mess, we hand them the argument for regulating us harder. The fix isn't better bridges or more audits. DeFi needs its own justice infrastructure. Onchain courts that can reverse fraud, slash bad actors, resolve disputes without calling the FBI. Not governance theater, but actual enforceable systems with skin in the game, built into the infrastructure, not bolted on post festum. Yes, this creates tension. Courts need someone to decide. Deciding needs some form of identity. Identity is what DeFi was built to avoid. But the alternative is what we have now, a system that works until it doesn't, and then quietly relies on the exact institutions it claims to replace. By refusing to build internal accountability, DeFi is practically guaranteeing the exact heavy handed regulation it was designed to escape.
