My mum and I went to court one day just to observe different cases and life situations.. Different people were being called forward until they brought a woman accused of st*bbing her own child 💀 The judge had barely started talking when my mum suddenly screamed: “Apayan buruku! Ẹ̀ yẹ́gi fún!” 💀 Omo, everybody turned, even the judge paused. Shame catch me instantly 😂 Meanwhile they had already warned everybody earlier to maintain decorum inside the courtroom oh I whispered: “Meimi, ẹ́ Jọ̀ọ̀ na”🙄(mum please na) This woman whispered: “Ara abiyamọ lo tami!” Me: 🙄 Before the judge could even conclude, my mum shouted again: “Ẹ̀ rán lọ sẹ́wọ̀n!” 😂 They just kukuma chased us out.. One week later: “Ọkọ mi, let’s go to court again.” Me: ẹ́yin ati tani 😏😏(you and who) smh 🤦‍♀️

Some years ago, I attended a church I won’t name. It was 30 minutes to the end of service when the pastor suddenly announced they needed 10 people to sow ₦1 million each, another 10 to give ₦500k each … and anyone giving less should wait their turn, because “the prayer will be different based on the amount.” Different prayers. Based on your pocket. I quietly picked up my Bible, walked out, and never went back. That was the day I realised what I was sitting in wasn’t a church … it was a business with a pulpit. They had taken something sacred and turned it into a transaction. Your access to God now had a price tag, and the rich got the premium package. I didn’t stop believing. I stopped performing.

One of my classmates sent out his CV last week and got a response from the MD of a company last night, inviting him for an interview by 9 a.m. today. Around 7 a.m. this morning, the MD called him again and said the interview venue had changed, but the time remained the same. Luckily for him, the new location was even closer to where he lives. He got there about 10 minutes before 9 a.m. and was told to wait a little. By 9:15 a.m., he called the MD just to let him know he had arrived. The man told him to wait another 10 minutes because he was in a meeting. My classmate waited… and waited. After over one hour and twenty minutes, he quietly carried his bag and left. About 15 minutes later, the MD called him and asked where he was. My classmate replied, “Sir, I already left.” The man sounded shocked and asked why he would leave after being told to wait. My classmate replied: “I have other commitments today, sir. I can’t work for someone who doesn’t respect time.” The MD replied, "That was the interview and you failed". Was my classmate too impatient?

Schools these days in Lagos are more focused on aesthetics so they can overcharge parents while paying less attention to actual quality education. Tell me why I’m paying 180k school fees for a Nursery 1 child and she still cannot confidently recite A–Z or 1–20 without skipping letters and numbers. Meanwhile, this same child speaks fluently, identifies colors and objects correctly, understands emotions, and even notices when the atmosphere in the house is tense. She’ll literally hug both of us saying: “Mom, I love you so much.” “Dad, I love you so much.” Sometimes I’m shocked and so proud of the things a 3-year-old can do emotionally. So now I’m wondering, am I supposed to help the school do extra teaching hours at home too? Because I’m already doing more than enough… or should I just change her school? I really don’t know how to handle this issue anymore the right way.

Then she called the Father, they greeted and the moment she said “ I Love You “ the father paused. She was like “ Daddy? Daddy? Did you hear me? The man said “ Are you alright? What’s wrong?
