Any Yorùbá person who is angry about being called Yariba is an unserious person.

Its not colonialism; he older ones are just jerks. Look at their throwbacks; they kept their hair and had all sorts of silly fashion trends. They just hate to see young people enjoy something; if young people today decide that buzz cuts are cool, they'll change mouth.
emekaaaaaaaaaaaa!♕@emeka_okoro001

I honestly don't see why the way a black man decides to keep his hair is an issue in the nigerian society. I once asked my dad why he doesn't support it and he said it's not "decent" colonialism affected us in so many ways and we don't even know it.

Asake looked so clean and stylish. Many Nigerian artist don't look clean on camera, I dunno how to explain it.

@Ugocci247 @deluxe_pastor @geenaabiti If you guys had stick to Akwa isi which is more original maybe we wouldn’t be arguing today but claiming Ichafu which is a reformed word for chiffon is same thing as Gele won’t fly.

@Obawells @deluxe_pastor @geenaabiti And we also kept tying akwa isi with imported materials. We had our own locally produced fabrics. And the style of the head-ties, for both peoples have evolved into a more homogeneous style, and that’s absolutely fine. This is 2026!

@deluxe_pastor @geenaabiti So the Yoruba made the gele? All of them were imported. It’s the same scarf different languages. Igbos call it ‘Akwa isi’ or ‘ichafu’
