My father never came to a single thing I invited him to. Not my primary school graduation. Not my secondary school prize giving where I collected 3 awards and kept looking at the gate. Not my university matriculation. Not the ceremony when I got called to bar in 2012. I'd send him the date weeks in advance and he'd say I'll try and that was always the full sentence. I'll try. No follow up. No explanation after. My mother would sit in his place and clap loud enough for 2 people. I stopped inviting him after the bar call. Not from anger. Some people love you completely and still cannot show up and after a while you stop making them feel guilty about it. He was not a bad man. I want to be clear about that. He was a mechanic in Mushin for 35 years. Worked 6 days a week. Sent every one of us to school. Never raised his hand. Never left. The lights stayed on and the rent was paid and there was always food and he did all of it quietly without asking to be celebrated. He just could not sit in a plastic chair and watch something. I accepted that and moved on. Last year I bought my first property. A flat in Ojodu. Took 9 years of saving and 2 years of paperwork and a lawyer who nearly finished me. When the keys finally came I sat in the empty flat on the floor for an hour just breathing. I called my mother first. She screamed. My sister cried. I didn't call my father. 3 days later he called me. Said he heard about the flat from my mother. Said he wanted to come and see it. I didn't know what to do with that so I just said okay. Gave him the address. Figured he'd say I'll try and we'd never speak of it again. He showed up on Saturday at 9am. Stood at the door in his good agbada. The one he only wears for serious things. Holding a small nylon bag. I let him in and he walked through every room without speaking. Not quickly. Slowly. Like he was counting something. He checked the pipes under the kitchen sink. Knocked on the walls. Opened and closed the windows twice each. Looked at the ceiling in every room the way only a man who has fixed things his whole life looks at ceilings. Then he came and stood in the sitting room and looked at me. Said the pipework is good. Said the windows seal properly. Said whoever built this knew what they were doing. I nodded. Long silence. Then he opened the nylon bag. Inside was a small framed photo. Me at maybe 7 years old sitting on the bonnet of an old car in his workshop. Grinning. Both legs swinging. He's standing beside me with his hand on my shoulder looking at something outside the frame. I remember that day. I had gone to the workshop after school and he let me sit there while he worked and gave me a Fanta and put a Michael Jackson cassette on the small radio. I didn't know anyone had taken a photo. He said he kept it on his workshop table for 22 years. Said he wanted me to have something for the new place. I held that frame and stood very still. He said he knew he missed things. Said he was not good at the sitting and watching. That crowds made something in him go wrong in a way he never knew how to explain. Then he said the flat was good and he was proud and he asked if there was anything in the kitchen because he hadn't eaten. I laughed. Made him eggs and bread while he sat at my kitchen table in his good agbada like he owned the place. We ate and he told me about a car he was working on. I told him about a case that was giving me trouble. Normal conversation. The kind we should have been having for years. He left at 1pm. At the door he gripped my shoulder the same way he did in that photo. Didn't say anything. Didn't need to. The photo is on my sitting room wall now. First thing I hung in the whole flat. Some fathers cannot sit in the plastic chair. But mine drove to Ojodu in his good agbada on a Saturday morning with a 22 year old photograph in a nylon bag. That was his standing ovation. I just didn't know to look for it in that shape.

@PerryTrilla @manuel_morr1son Learn sense It's not about the amount. 200 cedis could be small or big to some people The issue is she caused the damage but wants someone to pay 87% of the cost while she pays only 30 cedis. That's dumping responsibility on an innocent person. Calling that out isn't poverty talk

I have been at the hospital for over 25 days with my brother who has cancer, and yesterday something happened that made me teary. I was sitting in the waiting area when this young guy, who couldn't have been more than 22, came out of the ward looking completely defeated. He sat on the floor, head in his hands, just staring at a crumpled medical bill. You could tell he’d hit a wall 💔. An older Mama sitting across from me, the kind of Nigerian mother who looks like she carries the world in her wrapper 🙆‍♀️, stood up and walked over. She didn't ask questions. She just sat on the floor right next to him and put her hand on his shoulder. He started sobbing, telling her his sister needed a specific injection for her treatment to continue, but he was ₦15,000 short and the pharmacy wouldn't budge. This woman, who was clearly there for her own issues, reached into her tied wrapper, pulled out a small knot of cash, and counted out exactly ₦15,000. When he tried to refuse, she looked him dead in the eyes and said: “My son, I was praying for a miracle for my own daughter today. Maybe the miracle is that I have enough to make sure your sister stays alive.” The way they both just sat there crying on that hospital floor... I realized we spend so much time complaining about this country, but the "Nigeria" we’re looking for is actually in the way we hold each other up when the system fails us. We really are all we’ve got.

KIDNEY FAILURE is no longer an old people sickness anymore. More young people are dealing with it, and the reasons are a mix of lifestyle, habits, and sometimes things they don’t even realize are risky. Firstly, untreated health conditions Diseases like High Blood Pressure and Type 2 Diabetes are showing up earlier in life now. If they’re not controlled, they quietly damage the kidneys over time, gradually, you will notice some symptoms until things get serious.

🚨🗣️ Ronald Koeman on Barcelona’s Bastoni Pursuit: “Everyone suddenly wants Alessandro Bastoni at Barcelona like it’s FIFA career mode. But tell me, why force a move that makes no football sense? You already have Pau Cubarsí, a progressive monster who steps into midfield and builds play. Now you want to double that profile? Two ball-playing centre-backs who both want to dictate? That’s imbalance, not evolution. And no one wants to talk about Gerard Martín, a player who’s quietly dominating his duels, winning aerial battles, doing the dirty defensive work people ignore. That’s what balances a backline, and there’s stats which shows rard Martín dominates bastoni in both defensive duels and aerial duels. Football isn’t about collecting names, it’s about profiles. You don’t need two artists at centre-back—you need one artist and one soldier. Right now, Barcelona are chasing hype over structure… and that’s how you lose control of games.”

“Two weeks ago my husband started complaining that our baby's nose smelled bad. I thought it was just cough and catarrh, so we bought some drugs, but the smell didn't stop. Last Friday it got worse—the nose smelled often. My husband checked and saw a bit of catarrh inside, but when I looked, it didn't look like catarrh—it looked like something else. We took the baby to the hospital. The doctor said there was something inside his nose. They gave him an injection to sleep, and when he fell asleep, the doctor used a tool to pull out a very big piece of nylon from his nose (you can see the photo—so big!). I still don't know how he put it in there without anyone seeing. The doctor said if they hadn't removed it right then, they'd have had to cut his nose to get it out. I've been in shock since last Friday and haven't posted about it. I'm just so grateful—help me thank God, because I don't know what I'd do if anything had happened. Grateful to God”🙏🏽🙏🏽

A disturbing case from 2019 involving this man named Asiwaju has resurfaced online, drawing public attention again. Asiwaju, who was considered one of the notable faces on Twitter at the time, said he met a girl at the club and spent over 500k on drinks. They both got high and later had sex in his car. A lady identified as Blessing Osom, whom he had an encounter with, came out with rape allegations and it escalated fast. She didn’t stop there, she brought in another girl to back the story and make it more believable, heating up the case even more. The girl allegedly started blackmailing and extorting Asiwaju, severely affecting his reputation and mental well being. Amid the growing controversy, his mother suffered a heart attack after learning about the allegations, an event he believed contributed to her death. Overwhelmed by the combination of public backlash, personal loss and emotional distress, Asiwaju tragically took his own life later that same year.

I knew we were in trouble the moment I slid into the DMs of government officials and media personalities to warn them about the dangerous bills being introduced by the Minister for Communications. I broke down how the Cybersecurity Amendment Bill 2025 is just one of 15 bills being pushed through. I explained the implications. I sent the details. They all read it. Some even replied privately. Not one of them posted publicly. The people who are supposed to give us the truth have been compromised and it shows. This is exactly why I will always rate @kwadwosheldon . Some people still speak regardless of who is watching.
