Obscure Yume Nikki Facts

BIG DISCOVERY IN THE YN FANBASE! Playing NASU is fun, but after the 200 hour mark, the gameplay loop becomes tiring for experts. Worry not, it appears there is a hidden "Dream World" EASTER EGG in the game! Still being investigated, below is a diagram and images of the discovery!

YUME NIKKI FACT!: No matter how much you try to run away, you will never be safe from the giant evil flaming skeleton.

Many Yume Nikki players are familiar with the "Sewer Creatures", a collection of 9 disturbing drawings found within the sewer area. However, what many don't know is that there's an unused tenth sewer drawing hidden in the game's files! Affectionately called "Meat Puppy" by fans.

Many people think Madotsuki and her derivatives are human, but they're actually incorrect! They're in-fact a unique species, as evidenced by the differing appearance of the mall shoppers. When asked about it, Kikiyama stated "I just call them strange little yume nikki creatures".

In the mod Yume Nikki Hazard, there exists an unused revolver weapon with a throwable coin that can be shot in mid-air to deflect bullets into nearby enemies. The data for the weapon is mostly incomplete, below is a mere recreation of how it may have looked like in-game.

When the player interacts with Madotsuki's famicom, if they input the konami code on the select screen, Madotsuki will load in a cartridge for an NES port of all of Yakuza 0. The whole game is technically playable within Yume Nikki, but visually unreadable due to the NES display.

For some weird reason, in older versions of Yume Nikki there would be a giant pencil-shaped iron statue blocking the player's path to certain areas, rendering them inaccessible. The significance of the statue is unknown, and there's no trace of it in current versions of the game.

Did you know?: If you're a Yume Nikki fan, chances are you've heard of a fangame called Yume 2kki. But did you know that the name Yume 2kki is actually a subtle reference to the fact that it is the sequel to Yume Nikki? Probably not, because you're fucking stupid.

There is a secret character in Yume Nikki known as Luigitsuki. To unlock them, all you have to do is equip the severed head effect and step on every tile in Hell without getting caught by a Toriningen, then trigger the ending as normal. They're just a green recolor of Madotsuki.

Did you know?: They're gay.

FACT: If the game's internal "Fun Value" equals 66, the door to Snow World has a chance to be replaced with a gray door that leads to a room containing the enigmatic W.D Gaster. This character also appears in Undertale, suggesting a possible connection between the two universes.

In .flow, if the player inputs a modified version of the Konami Code on the title screen of Shinsoku Neko, they will be able to play in "True Shinsoku Neko" mode, where the player controls a white cat with slightly faster movement speed and abilities compared to normal mode.

FC World A and FC World B are two separate locations that are actually located on the same overarching map. Interestingly enough, a large portion of the FC World's map, dubbed "FC World C" by fans, is completely inaccessible without cheats, and therefore goes unused.

In the Neon Highway area of Yume 2kki, if the player uses No-Clip Mode to go out of bounds they will find a group of Killer Lobsters that function as Chaser NPCs. Unlike all other Chasers in the game, these ones immediately send the player to the main menu upon catching Urotsuki.

It is possible to use Debug Commands to add another member to your party. Although this can never happen in-game, having another party member causes several scripts to change. Most notably removing all Toriningen and adding an otherwise unused background to Neon World.

Urotsuki was added to Yume 2kki in Version 0.036, which released on July 8th, 2007. In all prior versions, an unnamed male character was the protagonist instead. They now take the role of an NPC that can be encountered during the Bleak Future event in Urotsuki's Dream Apartment.

During a live playthrough of .flow, lol_rust revealed two planned effects that were ultimately scrapped. A Scarf Effect (similar to the one worn by Little Sabitsuki in Industrial Snow World), and a Santa Hat Effect (Pictured Below).

"Steve 'Leif' Kareha" is an NPC that can be found by waiting at the canal at the southmost regions of Number World. It has standard reactions to the Cat and Stoplight effects, and the Knife effect causes it to swim faster. Due to it's obscurity, it has been dubbed a secret NPC.
