You’re confusing Trek with Starship Troopers. Trek isn’t about efficiency or discipline, but a future where we enable people to pursue their best selves. The pseudo-military aspect of Trek is what Roddenberry was most uncomfortable with. It why he disliked Nicholas Meyers take.

@indifferentnick Yeah, I kinda check out when they start killing the babies. The fox hunt and monastery set pieces are top notch...as is Goldsmith's score. I've always found it pretty badass that it takes the LITERAL Second Coming of Christ to fully kill Damien. 😆

🩸Martin🩸 (1977) George A. Romero's Martin, is widely celebrated as a foundational masterpiece of modern psychological horror and often cited as the director's personal favorite work. It masterfully deconstructs classic vampire mythology through the lens of a young man who believes himself to be a vampire, yet possesses no supernatural abilities, relying instead on sedatives and razors. Following a series of commercial struggles after Night of the Living Dead, Romero, with limited funds originally earmarked for a zombie sequel, instead chose to create Martin. This more personal and grounded "coming-of-age" story was shot in 1976 on a modest budget. The entirety of the film was shot on location in Braddock, Pennsylvania, utilizing the city's industrial decay as a stark backdrop for the protagonist's profound isolation. Martin also marked the first collaboration between Romero and the legendary special effects artist Tom Savini, who not only designed the film's practical effects but also played the supporting role of Arthur. Initially, Romero envisioned the entire film in black-and-white. However, a compromise with producers resulted in the present-day scenes being filmed in color, while Martin's stylized "fantasy" flashbacks retained a monochromatic aesthetic. After finally watching #Transformers The Movie. I understand why kids were upset after seeing it. It's the freaking Red Wedding for 10 yr olds. After the first 30 minutes you didn't want to see your favorite character on screen for fear they would die next. Good lord.
