I don't have the mental capacity to rank 25 games so here's a more digestible 3x3. These are some of the most significative games for me (no particular order).

It's funny how many awful trends we see nowadays originated with AOT. Ever since it changed studios we had: - People being obsessed about show ratings and clout - Final Season Part 18 bullshit - Shonenbros co- opting sakuga lingo so we can't even talk about productions anymore

@Odjn_Sphere Uhuh. And so the hands on stuff is where the assistant director would come in (for witch hat I'm assuming)

@s___hiv He does the things befitting his role: goes over and approves scripts, designs and general Art Direction and Photography I'm sure he's is most of the planning meetings, just not the day to day of actual production He storyboards some key episodes, but never directs them himself

@Odjn_Sphere So what does he even do/is good at? I know his storyboards are incredible ever since I saw his work on children of the sea, what role does he play in the production the

From all the accounts I've read of him, he's a very "top down" type of director. Don't think he has spoken to an animator in years . If you picture a Director who's in the thick of things, giving pointers, bouncing ideas with staff, that's not what Watanabe is.

@StellaNoxEclair Also Also, the music in the series is generally great but the 4th game has one of my favorite soundtracks ever. The composers are Fukusawa (worked on Tsukihime) and Jamie Cristopherson (the MGR: Revengeance guy). youtube.com/watch?v=VEWZPT…

@StellaNoxEclair Also, since a lot of later games is based on having companions and such there's light chose your on adventure mechanics based on your affinity with them. Or metroidvania like elements of "go back to this old level with this character to unlock more stuff"

I think I just had a mini epiphany, because Devil May Cry 1 was always my favorite one due to its level design and I'm now realizing it's because my soul longed for Resident Evil all along
Boa@Boaiatach

@StellaNoxEclair i played dmc1 and its very funny seeing the castle level because you can just tell the game used to be re4 it looks exactly like the re4 castle's assets

@StellaNoxEclair Even with it's more action focus in later titles, the games never go too over the top. Even the (currently) latest title, Dawn of Dreams, is still not as actiony as DMC1. To sell you, none of them have a jump button.

@StellaNoxEclair It's the other Capcom series that spawned from Resident Evil. Gameplay wise it sits somewhere in-between classic RE and DMC1, with a Japanese hystorical setting. Later chapters in the series evolved the formula to include many other playable characters and a more action focus

The Jojo fandom was truly a pioneer in the "we are more interested in being in a fandom than in the art itself" trend. If the only thing that interests you is being one of thousands of monkeys skreeching in the forest at the same time, try to ask yourself some questions.

@dotdotprivate Overall I'm also not a big fan of "arcs" in the traditional sense of how many manga/anime implement them. It's often a rigid structure born from utilitarism more than anything. Storytelling shouldn't be so strict and fragmented, things should bleed in and out more.

@dotdotprivate In cases like this, I prefer the option of just getting on with it S1 rearranged the material toward the end to give it a more "climax" feel, leaving the viewer pondering all the right questions This season not wasting any time and going straight into it could be seen as a plus

Dorohedoro returns with something that feels more like an episode #13 than a S2 #01. Given there were no actual breaks in the manga, it's a bit of an awkward spot to pick up. Very little context is given to those that don't remember S1 much.
