Masterpiece considering the inconsistency is a stretch but for a gacha genshin is great. Could say the same for Hi3 and it didn’t blow up

The success of Genshin Impact being attributed to the pandemic is such a cope of an argument.
There were other games that were released during the pandemic, but why didn't any of them succeed in terms of longevity and cultural impact?
It is simply because Hoyoverse created a great game, a great world, a great set of characters, great lore and excellent music to weave it all together. An artistic masterpiece of a game.
The pandemic simply spedrun the inevitable. But Genshin Impact would have been a massive success anyway without it.

@Sebbywebz But a game doesn't have to break its niche to be great—or to be someone's favorite. Most JRPG players are perfectly happy within that niche; they don't need a game to be a best-seller to enjoy it fully

Miss the game actually letting you come to conclusion about teammates and such yourself even in natlan kinich mualani chasca even Mavu have diff teams and variations you can make up (that also constantly can see upgrades like durin/nicole) but 6.x has been puzzle piece or no go

- Gave traveler the spotlight , instead of sidelining them in favor of the playables
- They expected the region to be something and got surprised it wasn't the case.

- No Yuri / Yaoi bait , since the cast didn't got glued to one another during the arc.

- The story was about everyone uniting against one big enemy instead of all tribes fighting each other.
- Didn't had 5-star tall male character who steals the spotlight from mavuika and traveler.
- Attractive female characters and fanservice pissed normies off.

Finished Natlan AQ, I don't understand why people were using "friendship is magic" to criticize the the story. Do they want traveler and Mavuika to fail to satisfy their edgy asses?

I don't think that a gacha's lifetime had anything to do with the worth of an artist's work. Many things have been lost to time however we can't say those things were worthless because it people who did experience it, it had worth, and so did the artist. To say you feel "bad" is-

People are getting mad at OP when the reality is that every gacha will EoS one day. Unless there is an aftermarket plan, there will be no way to preserve these artists' works. You can go back and play a budget/passion project. You can't with most EoS gachas. They're lost forever.

@mint_svt_ Even ice sculptures only exist as pixels eventually. If this were about game preservation in general, we'd have a fruitful discourse—not this nonsense. Plenty of "proper" games are dead forever, while some gachas live on through offline and private servers

@jo_youwhatmate Most modern art is monetized; it’s a product by definition. Two of my favorites—the Sun Eater books and the Dune movies—are products, but that doesn't take away their artistic value. The irony is that with gachas, the vast majority of people play for free
