People always say "Don't learn magic by playing commander!" and then give a million good reasons why you shouldn't. And they're wrong, sorry! I would not have stuck with magic if all my first experiences were sweaty 1v1 games. The gathering (with 3 friends) is what drew me.

@OfficalRavioli I've seen a lot 60-card players whine about Commander more than trying to promote their own formats, and while I enjoy playing Pauper/Modern/Legacy I feel like that attitude keeps people away from testing other formats :p

@hellish_homun I think your not understanding the idea, were not saying draft isn’t bad to start on, but its not as popular for new players, ya it will teach them proper deck building and play, but whats bringing back players to the game store every day other than Friday is commander.

@OfficalRavioli Constructed in general is a bad entry point. Not impossible. Playing and deck building are two separate activities. Playing constructed with someone new who doesn't understand their deck feels awkward in my experience. This is just for the very early steps of introduction.

@OfficalRavioli Just because Standard is also unapproachable doesn't make Commander a better entry point. If you are gonna require other friendly people to play just start with a draft format, or kitchen table magic. Having people commit to a functional deck should not be an entry requirement.

@infernoman64 Problem with the ub change is that it still messes with legacy and vintage. Blocks desperately need to come back because so many cool sets are one and done these days 😕. I wanna stay a while on new planes like bloomburrow or the edge of eternity and explore it more.

I want blocks back and (ideally) to move UB sets to commander only (yes even the good ones). It would solve so many problems.
