I visited the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU - I) Uganda Campus at Jinja. NFSU (I) is India's first overseas public academic campus and has enrolled its first batch in October, 2025. Director, Air Commodore K.R. Thaakar briefed me about the design, scope and ambition for the NFSU, Uganda. I am confident that the institution will grow to serve its mandate and emerge not just as an academic institution engaging in robust R&D, capacity building and the promotion of multidisciplinary forensic sciences, but also as a symbol of the spirit of collaboration and warmth between India and Africa.

Earlier today, I had the opportunity to meet Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, during a courtesy engagement organised by the Indian High Commission. Hon. Chaudhary was in Uganda to represent India at the Presidential swearing in ceremony. We had fruitful discussions on how Uganda can partner with India in strengthening skills development, improving accreditation systems, and building a globally competitive labour force. We also explored ways of empowering Ugandan youth through vocational training, education, entrepreneurship, modern agricultural practices, and specialised skilling programs to create better opportunities for Ugandan people both locally and internationally. The engagement was also attended by captains of industry including Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Bhaskar Kotecha, Sitaram Reddy, Mr. Ramesh Babu, officials from the Indian High Commission, and other distinguished guests.

Many congratulations to Shri N. Rangasamy Ji on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Puducherry. His long experience in public life and deep connect with the people have helped shape Puducherry’s development journey with stability and purpose. Wishing him a successful tenure devoted to public welfare and progress.

During the Uganda visit, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Kampala over a breakfast meeting. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, in Kampala as the representative of the Government of India. During the visit, the Hon’ble Minister conveyed India’s warm greetings and reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between India and Uganda. Attended the Swearing in ceremony of the President elect H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda. The function was attended by H.E Jessica Alupo R.E, Vice President of Republic of Uganda, Speaker of Parliament, Chief Justice and other dignitaries from Republic of Uganda as well as representatives from different countries. This will be President Yoweri Museveni’s 7th term in office. Undoubtedly, the long period of political continuity and stability has granted Ugandans opportunities to forge their path of progress with confidence.
