What a race this will be! This will honestly be as exciting as today’s big race! For me… Sir Gino was always going to go chasing as same yard as CH. He could be anything making his chase debut and if Hendo is putting him straight in to this then they must feel he has a great chance of winning it and stamping his claim to being favourite for the Arkle. Assuming he jumps as expected… it will be a thing of beauty to watch. It’s such a shame he didn’t run at the festival in March due to the cloud over the stable at the time but he didn’t mess around in the Fighting Fifth and ran a lovely time which will put the Ballyburn connections in to panic mode for sure. Ballyburn was the best novice hurdler last year and they’ve taken no time to get him over fences. A lovely chase debut and won as expected. However he looks a stayer to me and maybe Sir Gino has too much gas for him over 2m? I think so. I really think he’s destined for 3m and it’s a shame they’ve removed G1 status for the Novice Chase over 2m4f as he would be primed for this in March (it’s now a G2 handicap instead of the Turners) … but if the Arkle (2m) is on the cards then he will need to speed it up. My gut feeling here is he loses tomorrow and then goes down to route of the Browns (3m novice Chase)… which will be perfect for my antepost bets (as made a prediction about all of the above a while back) So yeah, this race is huge for the sport and for me personally to see which route Ballyburn will go down Just like today for me today was all about CH winning and then where Lossiemouth goes in March… everyone was telling me she was going to the Champion Hurdle… but after the pumping by CH (who isn’t fully fit) today,,, it’ll probably lead her to the Mares Chase as it’s more of a realistic goal for her (as no one is beating CH in March in my opinion)… which is again great for my antepost bets! Interested to hear everyone else’s thoughts on both races and March predictions! #Ad
