From what I understand in Greek mythology, it wasn’t just one or the other it was both. Agamemnon was born into the cursed House of Atreus, a family plagued by generations of betrayal, murder, and revenge, so tragedy was already hanging over him long before the Trojan War. But I don’t think that means everything was unavoidable, because he still made the choice to sacrifice Iphigenia in order to get the Greek fleet to Troy.
That sacrifice became his greatest personal sin. When Agamemnon finally returned home, Clytemnestra had never forgiven him for killing their daughter, and with Aegisthus’ help, she murdered him. So I’ve always seen his death as both the consequence of his own decision to sacrifice Iphigenia and another chapter in the curse that had haunted the House of Atreus for generations.

The biggest flaw of Nolan’s The Odyssey is the lack of options.
Why didn't he release two versions like Spider Noir? One grounded, one with full VFX Poseidon & Zeus in their true mythic forms.

For everyone saying everything could’ve been avoided if Bear just said yes… you’re delusional! 😂 The only difference? She’d reject him, destroy the friendship, leaving Bear heart broken and regretting his action leading to Bear eventually making the exact same wish anyway.

She’s the daughter of Antiphates, the Laestrygonian king.
In #the odyssey the scouts meet her drawing water near the harbor; she leads them straight to her parents’ house… where the real welcome party of giant cannibals is waiting. Classic “wrong turn in the woods” moment.
