PRESS RELEASE March, 2026 PLATEAU STATE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR INDIVIDUAL FILING OF RETURNS In light of the unfortunate unrest that has disrupted businesses and economic activities in Jos North Local Government Area, the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) has announced an extension of the deadline for individuals filing their annual income tax returns. The new deadline is now set for April 21, 2026, extending the original due date of March 31, 2026, by three weeks. This decision aims to provide individuals with additional time to complete and submit accurate tax returns successfully. Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, the Executive Chairman of PSIRS, stated, “Our priority is to ensure that taxpayers have the opportunity to fulfil their civic duty without the pressure of disruption caused by unforeseen circumstances. We encourage everyone to utilise this extension to prepare and file their returns diligently.” Online Filing: Individuals are reminded that all tax filings can be completed through the PSIRS official eTax portal to ensure compliance and streamline processing.
