“What happens to other patients who have spent millions on admission?” This is emotional blackmail. A doctor was assaulted, and somehow the focus has shifted from the violence (which has been normalized) to making doctors feel guilty for reacting. Mind you, reports said he was operating on a patient in theatre when the incident happened…I wonder what happened to that patient. They literally fired shots and sprayed tear gas too. But it’s still the doctor that should be thinking about the patients on admission? I said what I said. Shut down the hospital.

It would be a disgrace if there were no action from NMA at a national level on this issue. Isn't this one of the main purposes of the association? To protect and advocate for doctors' welfare? How are younger doctors supposed to feel going to work every day when a PROFESSOR can be assaulted in the hospital and nothing happens? Precedents should be set and something should be done.

@popoolaadaniel They don’t understand I did my internship in UUTH, radiology department. In the span of 1year, up 7 radiologist left Nigeria. They were already reporting on shortage of staffs especially medical doctors. This is one of the reasons why they are running

The only Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Akwa Ibom State was just harassed by some government officials. The amount of people about to die from the lack of doctors in Nigeria in the next 5 years it’s about to surpass that from insurgence in the past 10 years.

It was a delay in issuing a death certificate that caused a whole Professor of Surgery, the only Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Akwa Ibom and Deputy CMAC of UUTH to be harrassed by officials of EFCC. Wildly behaved officials that may be just SSCE holders. What a country!
